AliA is a rising producer and DJ based in Belgium, she has caught the attention of the likes of Mr. Scruff, Carista and Lefto with her intelligent selections and versatile approach.

Despite being young she has earnt a residency at the acclaimed Horst festival and has made regular appearances at C12 and De School amongst many others.

Most recently she has launched her own record label Artisjok on which the first release came from XL Regular showcasing an assortment of deep, bass influenced House music.

We are expecting to see and hear a lot from AliA over the next little while and we think you will be too.

Today we proudly present two heavyweights of the Berlin bass scene! 

You are in for a full 3 hour live DJ recording from the B2B of Monibi and Dangermami, who rocked the floor at a PLASMA party at RSO last year. Both DJs are not only known and loved for their massive selections in the booth, but have also made an important contribution to the Berlin scene off the dance floor. With Femme Bass Mafia, Dangermami has not only founded THE indispensable mentoring programme when it comes to revitalising UK and breakbeat styles in our city but also build a florishing international network of artists based on that. Similarly, Monibi, one of the FBM mentors, regularly hosts music technology workshops, opening up access and participation to the music industry, while showcasing her eclectic approach to murky bass music, beat science and anything else loosely related to the hardcore continuum spectrum at her residency at Refuge Worldwide.

TraTraTrax with Dj Lomalinda & Nyksan - 06 March 2024

Mia Koden (@miakoden) first emerged as half of Sicaria Sound but since breaking out alone has established her own musical identity. It draws on her South Sudanese heritage and music from across the African continent and beyond, not least her current surroundings in South London and the city's rich sound system culture. Often operating around the 140BPM mark, she dropped two head-turning tracks ‘Hot Take' and 'I Did’ early last year then debuted on Ilian Tape with a dark and irresistible EP that traverses multiple bass-heavy genres.

Mia does the same with her mix for us this week with, in her words, "bass, percussive, 2step, 140BPM, dubstep, dub, dub techno and breaks" all coming thick and fast at up to 150 beats per minute. It's a breathless 90-minute selection of global body music packed with lively percussion, big on low ends and not afraid to get rhythmically inventive while also dropping in the odd playful vocal from the worlds of grime and r&b. Both technically sound and tastefully assembled, it's a thrilling statement from the vital Koden.

I wanted to show my appreciation for dancefloor-focused club music with more an emphasis on bass-heavy styles connecting the links between disparate genres to create a mix that sonically makes sense. I love Mixing genres such as Tech House & Techno whilst also playing Drill and Dubstep, there are links everywhere you just have to find them, the rest will follow.

I think my earliest memories are listening to Hardcore tapes from raves my parents used to go to as well as my dad's pals mixes, my whole childhood has been electronic music. My understanding of the music came from a very wholesome place but being young and  raised in a farming town I was cut off from these scenes. Getting the chance as I've grown older to live in different cities I have jumped at the chance to experience different music scenes whether it has been in  Hull,Newcastle or now London.

I started producing about 11 years ago now, my process has changed multiple times since then. I don't come from a musical background which has been a blessing and as curse as I have found ways of making music non musically which I feel gives me an edge of approaching my productions from a unique angle. This approach is sometimes very long and frustrating but overall I can make something that sounds fresh and new to my ears and thats what I think electronic music is about at the end of the day.
