As @sleepd, childhood friends Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have greatly helped shape Melbourne's underground scene over the last decade. Between them, they have Iraqi and Maltese heritage and put out music on the likes of Incienso, Play On and Cocktail d'Amore Music as well as their own blog/party/label Butter Sessions. Like their expressive live show, it explores "the rave unconscious" so think everything from dreamy pads to driving rhythms, gritty electro to cosmic techno. 

This week's podcast is a superb showcase of their style: a mix that is constantly on the move, building momentum as rhythms go from elastic and bouncy to more driving and sleek. Percussion is perfectly sprinkled in to give extra texture, while nebulous synths add the colour as the pressure builds and builds. This is physical, psychedelic, emotional, trance-inducing electronic music that follows the familiar arc of a well-executed mix but in all new and unfamiliar ways.

As head honcho of the Hypersoft party series, Santi has been responsible for bringing some of our favourite artists such as Bliss Inc, Jane Fitz, Carl H and Solar Suite together under one roof for his legendary extended monthly parties.

Not only that, his bouncy, dynamic sets have been making waves thanks to his innate sense of fun and deep collection. It's a pleasure to present this all-vinyl mix from him bridging the gap between a diverse smorgasbord of different psychedelic sounds. Thanks Santi!

Skankstasy (aka Wanda Gaimes) is a long-time member of the Berlin undercommons, known as a tireless rave agitator for @lllecken, the queer-feminist party series she co-founded in 2016, writer, curator, and more recently, DJ. Skankstasy is moved by everything that grooves, from grime to juke groove, as we see on this mix she's prepared for us. 

Raised in a post-socialist country starved for Western cultural goods, where every mixed tape had to be cherished like a treasure, she grew up in a household that listened to funk, soul and blues. Later, when she emigrated, her heart started beating for trip hop, hip hop and dub and only started raving to 4-to-the-floor beats much later in life. Behind the decks (or on the radio waves), Skankstasy likes to surf the sweet spot between different rhythms and grooves with an ambition to conjure "a future queer skank floor" and a deep appreciation for the diasporic roots of dance music. For the latest episode of the Warning Mix we have DJ Leeza in the mixxxx. The Leipzig resident and host of the Hotshot Raves at IfZ drops some UK and other bass and breakz music for our series. After playing in the fast rave lane for quite a while (and doing great there), Leeza takes it down a notch without compromising on the dopeness of her selections for a second.
