We've barely recovered from the sun-scorched assault of Technique's Summer 2016 album, and yet, already, there's more Drumsound & Bassline Smith material for us to get our ears around. Proving they've got too much fire for one label to contain, their recent excursions on Playaz and Function Records have been setting raves alight, and now they're back on their home turf. So, what have the Technique bosses cooked up for us this time?

First on the menu is “I'm Gone”. And this one isn't just a Tune with a capital T, it's also a Song with a capital S. Bully hasn't just provided a singalong hook, but a fully structured lyric which drives the track just as much as the relentless bassline. From the lighters-up intro through to the soar of the build to the solar-plexus strike of the drop, this is going to deliver everywhere from festival main stages to early-hours after-parties. No watering-down, no gentle chaser, just a neat shot of pure vocal drum and bass.

And then it's time to handle “The Truth”. The original hit hard when it dropped at the end of last year, but now Drumsound & Bassline Smith have unleashed the VIP and things have got even more serious. First of all, the intro has an extra level of cinematic sci-fi epicness, which perfectly sets us up for the additional brutality of the drop. The militantly staccato bass of the original is given a re-lick with more unpredictable twists and turns. This is one for selectors to pull out to ensure they keep the rave in the palm of their hand.

To put it simply, here are two dancefloor-wrecking heavyweight pieces from the ever-prolific DBS team. To put it even simpler, it's Drumsound & Bassline Smith, so what did you expect?

Following the success of the original single earlier this year, Crissy Criss & WiDE AWAKE’s hit record ‘Real’ is getting three brand new remixes from a diverse roster of some of bass music’s finest, as well as a specialised acoustic version. With Killer Hertz, Sammy Porter, and Wonder K all lending their talents for a trilogy of distinct edits, Crissy Criss continues to celebrate his sundry career with this release on his own War on Silence imprint. 

The first remix comes from Brighton based trio Killer Hertz, who work the original captivating vocal throughout the intro into a heavy dancefloor weapon. Simultaneously vibrant and dark, the juxtaposition creates an energy suited to any underground club or car radio. With plenty of the trio’s signature rustling basslines alongside the infectious riffs of Crissy Criss & WiDE AWAKE’s original, this remix is set to sit alongside the original as an essential DnB anthem. 

Sammy Porter delivers an entirely different result with his house rendition, opening on an infectiously bouncy note before slowly revealing the original vocal. A much more leisurely bop, Sammy Porter has managed to successfully transform the original into a completely different sound while still capturing the energy of the original – certainly no easy feat! 

The third remix comes from London electronic music veteran Wonder K who puts his signature funky spin on ‘Real’. High energy right from the start, Wonder K transforms the track into a catchy, effervescent house tune with incredible skill. Blending together a plethora of his own influences into Crissy Criss & WiDE AWAKE’s original, the end result is truly memorable. 

Last but not least, the package offers an exclusive acoustic mix. Glistening piano melodies embrace the listener in what is a truly radiant rendition of ‘Real’. Simple and masterfully executed, this acoustic version is the perfect finishing touch to a truly standout collection of remixes, and a fitting celebration to the diversity and talent associated with both Crissy Criss and WiDE AWAKE.
