Quickie from us: "HOLY SHIT, FINALLY THIS FUCKING SONG IS OUT... This song was meant to be an Edit to promote a show we had at LIV in december. Initially we had Disclosure's 'Fire Starts to Burn' over the track and thought the drop was way to hot to use someone else's vocal. So we had this ridiculous idea to create a song around the concept of the #SELFIE. We really weren't sure if this was the most brilliant idea, or worst idea we ever had... So we had our home girl Alexis come over and within an hour we had 2 verses and the song done. At that point in time we thought it was hilarious but we were quite sure how it would be received, but seeing as we aren't pussbags and music is about experimenting and having fun, we put it out. 2 days later the song had 200k plays and about 1% negative feedback. So we went to Dim Mak who we always loved as a label and asked them if they were interested in it, if we went back in added a new verse and changed the drops. 6 Weeks later here we are, with an amazing Music Video compiled with all this great submitted #Selfies from Fans, Friends, DJS and Celebs. So we hope you all enjoy the tune as much as we did putting this whole project together. This is our first EVER Original release and it would mean the world to us if you all bought the song, shared the video and took #SELFIE video... ”

1) Every time we asked someone special for a #SELFIE they said yes, but then said they would send us one later like it was some chore, when all they had to do was turn their phone around on the device they were texting us from....
2) About 15% of the submissions we got from ppl involved Nudity
3) About 5% involved animals
4) #Selfie was named word of the year in the USA and The Netherlands...

they’re still asleep in a tangle of limbs
wrapped in a blanket like this ain’t thin
i’m outside the flap with a quiet stare
pretending this spot is just fresh air

we’re parked behind a service sign
no one’s asked us to move this time
i told the boys, “it’s a camping trip”
not that i’m runnin’ on hope and grit

my boys think we’re camping
some backyard holiday
they don’t see the panic
i’m trying to keep at bay
they trust every answer
they believe i’m sure
but i’m just stringin’ moments
one prayer more

she left six weeks with a quiet door
said she’d be back, she ain’t no more
i’ve been keepin’ up bedtime lies
washin’ ‘em clean with borrowed time

last night mikey turned in sleep
said, “daddy, i like this better than the suite”
that one line just cracked me wide
i stepped outside and let it ride

my boys think we’re camping
and this is all a game
but i’ve been callin’ shelters
hopin’ one might take our name
they think i’m the captain
in some grand parade
but i’m just holdin’ on
to the part i played

then margie came with a paper sack
cocoa steam and biscuits stacked
she sat with us on the curb out front
said, “son, i’ve had that kind of month”

“come with me,” she said real low
“no forms to fill, just a place to go”
we followed her car down a gravel bend
to a red barn sign that read “haven’s end”

learned to patch and plant and haul
watched my boys grow brave and tall
mikey helped paint the chicken shed
toby sang while we broke bread

margie said, “this place was mine
built it from scratch in ‘99
didn’t want to vanish when i was gone
wanted to be a light that carried on”

my boys still thought we were camping
where goats and wildflowers grew
they didn’t see the healing
that the silence slowly drew
they called it the wild woods
i called it grace
we learned what you carry
can change a place

a photo came with a simple note
“thank you” scrawled beneath her coat
her younger face, a baby too
in front of that barn, same faded hue

the note said, “keep the chain alive
help someone else survive”
now when someone knocks unsure
i open wide like she did before

my boys still dream of camping
but we were planting seeds
in soil made of sorrow
that grew what we need
and every night, when mikey turns
he still whispers what i’ve learned:
“daddy, i like this better.”
so do i, son. so do i.

(Summary)

This song tells the story of a father disguising homelessness as a camping adventure for his sons.
