WASSERSTOFF grew up with Postpunk and early HipHop in the American sector of West Germany. He moved to Berlin for the Dub 
and Bass music and sought to merge fine and street art in his sound. 

DYER MC is one of London’s first female MCs in Grime and Jungle. Beginning the mission on pirate stations, she made her mark and went on to represent in Los Angeles. 

SCUAL is a vision from Rome! Special Cures for Uncurable Anesthetized Lovers is a multimedia project started by visual artist Lorenzo Ciciani.

Eine gewisse Gnadenlosigkeit ist Thomas Bernhards Texten bekanntlich eigen. Jene Sammlung kurzer Prosastücke, die er Der Stimmenimitator genannt hat, verbindet die Härte seiner Welt- und Menschensicht mit dichterischer Musikalität und extravaganten Erzählmanövern; die Anekdotenserie gehört zu den wohl am wenigsten bekannten, in ihrer Verdichtungslust aber spannendsten Arbeiten des Schriftstellers.

Im Remix des Berliner Dub- und Bass- Spezialisten WASSERSTOFF scheint auf, wie dicht Gemütlichkeit und Befremden, Terror und Leichtigkeit, Transzendenz und Hinfälligkeit beieinander liegen.

Der für Thomas Bernhard so typische, fast schon surrealistische Witz durchdringt diese short stories – "Der Stimmenimitator" versammelt absurde Fabeln, lakonische Todesfallstudien und abgründige Lokalnachrichten – in hohem Maß. Der Schrecken des Erzählten wird durch die sarkastische Prägnanz des Tonfalls gleichsam in Schwebe gehalten.

20 der 104 Prosastücke, die sich in dem Band finden, werden gegenwärtig von dem österreichischen Musiker-Duo Modell Doo, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Schauspieler Robert Reinagl, der hauptberuflich im Ensemble des Wiener Burgtheaters tätig ist, vertont. Das Ergebnis wird weder ein Hörbuch noch eine Literaturoper sein, sondern eine ganz neuartige, möglicherweise auch fremd anmutende Liaison von Text und Komposition: 20 Klangminiaturen, in denen Prosa-Performance und elektronischer Avant-Pop genuin ineinander aufgehen und verschmelzen.

Reinagls doppelbödige Rezitation verwandelt das Protokollarische der tragikomischen Ereignisse, die Bernhard entfesselt, während die Musik beides, Vortragskunst und Textblöcke, subvertiert, dabei ungeahnte weitere Ebenen einzieht.

Diese neue Adaption des Stimmenimitators könnte in mehrfacher Hinsicht dazu dienen, die Erinnerung an Bernhards Sprachgewalt und Todesverachtung aufzufrischen.

The trans-Atlantic collaboration was conceived as sound branding for the MW:M21, the most important music conference in Germany. Waynette came up with the idea of producing the twelve sound modules as a dance track:“Let’s release these tunes, and do so on the occasion of the conference!”

MC Zulu from Chicago is currently working with Wasserstoff on BERLIN WIBES for Wolfpack Entertainment (Universal Music). Martin Burkard, mix/mastering and co-producer, has brought his classic “Immigrant Visa” into play as a remix.

Inspired by the greeting BLESS UP of Marechal Mendy, a Senegalese colleague of BERLIN WIBES, the graphic artist Henrike Ott (Juice Magazine, Viva Con Agua) created a messianic cover of a Jesaja in the colors of this year’s MW:M21, for which she was responsible for all of the design.

Kyoto Klubtunes was inspired by my friendship with the artist Masako Oshima and the musician Tsuyoshi Kanda from Kyoto. Our interpreter Leon Kawano from Tokyo accompanied us through Berlin in 2009 and 2010. At the time, he was wearing the button "Radioactivity" by the band Kraftwerk.
We were at an opening in Berlin-Wedding, taking in Masako's mandalas and raving about her graphic work. Later, we met in front of the Tricky Tunes record store in Friedrichshain, drank coffee with our colleagues DJane Spoke and Kai Biermann, whom we visited in his studio for a session - in the Broadcasting Studio Nalepastrasse, the former building of the East German State Radio.
Our German-Japanese journey of discovery also, of course, led us to the Japanese scene in Berlin-Neukölln, where we talked about the Japanese Shinto religion, Buddhism, and Christianity, and also about club music and the philosophy of the mute button ...
