Waste of Space are a three piece Indie Rock band from Sunderland, UK.

Initially a pipe dream of lead singer/guitarist Chris Thompson and drummer Jack Turner, the trio formed in late 2011 after convincing mutual friend Thomas Hedley to learn bass so they could be a completed outfit. The following months were spent sweating in Turner's back room, nursing a multitrack cassette recorder and sifting through years of scribbled lyrics and unfinished melodies. They promptly put together 4 tracks which they distributed amongst friends, thus-far unaware of their existence as a band.

Still reluctant to play live, Waste of Space took to landing at buskers' nights, playing toned down versions of their songs. Still raw and lacking confidence, the encouragement of attendees gave the band a new drive. Their first handful of live shows across Sunderland were a huge success, and the band were eager to cement their place in the local scene by officially recording a CD. On multiple occasions they scrapped their plans to record after finding a new muse and a new direction which songwriting would take them, they began to write songs about their own personal thoughts and feelings, songs with more energy and meaning, songs which were more enjoyable to play, and more enjoyable to hear.

What came next was the Busy EP, a collection of 4 tracks recorded with Neil Bassett at Room 3 Recording in Sunderland. The lads are still sweating in Jack's back room, they're still sifting through years of songs, but what they're doing is real, the only important thing to this band.
