after a delicate opening, a veritable firework display follows. only a short time after the opening of the set, whitley demonstrates with his incomparable sound what it means to create a swinging, cheerful, exciting and at the same time melodic set. extremely fast-paced techno mixed with trance and countless sounds and psy elements: an ever-increasing tension curve finally leads to an overwhelming closing.

For this month‘s wav:es series we present you LKY, 
LKY is  DJ/Producer from the UK who has been strongly shaped by the UK techno scene through running his own events, DJing and writing music since 201. His style has naturally progressed towards the driving and hypnotic style of the genre budling energy throughout.
 
Born in the UK, Nathan Lockwood has been exposed to electronic music from an early age. With over 10 years experience in the scene from event goer to promoter to now a DJ/Producer playing all across Europe delivering hypnotic rhythms with core dub influences throughout all of his sets.
 
LKY’s first release in the more hypnotic specification of the genre was in 2020 for Drawner Records. Since then, LKY has released music on OECUS, SYXT and Secession. In 2020 LKY also saw the formation of his self-release series titled ‘LKY’ which was an opportunity to showcase LKY’s style and direction.
 
LKY has also had great support for his releases from Pioneers of the scene we love and cherish such as: DVS1, Freddy K, Martixxman, Setaoc Mass, Ben Klock and many more.

Liam Chambers aka HOOLIGAN is this weeks entry to the Four Four Local Selection Mix Series. The talented Cork DJ and producer completes the 172nd edition to the series, comprising of a groove infused, hypnotically driven recording from start to finish.

Boasting releases on Sonic Intel, SPEED and Disintegrated, it is clear that HOOLIGAN is no stranger to Ireland’s and more notably, Cork’s underground dance scene. Having played in ‘An Spalpín Fánach’ and ‘Crack Jenny’s’, coupling this with his involvement in Kriptik, a collective running private events in unique locations around Cork, solidifies this fact even more.

Kriptik looks to have gained a very strong reputation in quite a short period of time and are definitely a party to keep an eye on in future. It looks to be another positive contribution to the reignition of Cork city’s party scene that is badly needed. Bravo.

HOOLIGAN’s approach to Techno reflects images and soundscapes of the dark basements of Berlin. His love for rolling basslines and heavy hypnotic grooves, where he blends the old with the new is apparent throughout his recordings as well as his productions.

In this mix you can expect a 3 deck workout made up of some cracking releases. Some of which include tracks from HOOLIGAN himself, British Murder Boys, Kaiser, a host of Key Vinyl releases and more. Get stuck into this.

Born in the Pott & raised in a small town near Holland. Jonny
grew up listening to old school hiphop most of the time. He quickly realized that most genres are interrelated to each other & that it´s all about creating groove with maschines. 
He dedicates his musical journey to nothing but groove and the subculture behind it ever since: Polyrhythms, percussion, soulful samples or amen breaks combined with pumping 909 Kicks & hypnotic basslines in a breakbeat or 4-on-the-floor context can be heard in his fast forward mixtapes or at the club.
