TM8 Q: When did you go to a club or a rave for the first time? 

A: "As soon as I turned 18, I went to the most popular club in my small city wearing a full sequin top, stiletto heels and my little asymmetrical bob. At this point I’ve never heard of techno music before so we were all bopping along to the most popular tracks on the radio at the time and had an absolute blast. It was a very different time for me."

Ukrainian-Australian artist Katia Val delivers TM8 #35, blending breakbeat, acid and lush techno into a potent hour of pleasure. The Paris-based producer and DJ is on a roll at the moment and her experience is mounting at the minute — she’s played at @about-blank-berlin, @etandetsted, @anomalieartclubberlin, Hangar FL and shared milestone mixes for @hoerberlin, @redlightradio, @possessiontechno and @rawppl. When it comes to producing, Katia leans toward several genres, making vibrant tones ripe and ready for a club soundsystem. On her Technomate podcast, Katia shows us what she’s all about in this bright session of psychedelic sounds.
