Armor of Light sits at the emotional core of NOVK's Status Unknown EP. Created during a period of spiritual wrestling, the track reflects a desire to bring hope and protection into a genre often associated with despair. Originally intended for a Christian rapper, it ultimately stands instrumental, allowing the message to exist without words, as light moving through shadow.

The title track, Status Unknown, closes the EP where it all began. Created in 2018, it is the earliest piece in the collection and intentionally unresolved, symbolizing uncertainty, transition, and the space between who the artist was and who he became.

Unconscious Thoughts, first released as a single in October 2022, threads seamlessly into the EP’s theme of mental overload and disorientation. It captures the feeling of being lost in constant noise, externally and internally, where thoughts surface without permission.

Fourth Watch represents the darkest stretch of the night. Inspired by the biblical concept of the fourth watch between 3 – 6am, the track unfolds in two movements, an initial sense of spiritual attack and vulnerability, followed by divine intervention, God arriving precisely when protection is needed most.

Midwood Nights shifts NOVK's Status Unknown project into memory and warmth. Written for NOVK’s wife, the track recalls early nights together in Plaza Midwood, Charlotte. The buildup mirrors anticipation and nervous excitement. The drop reflects connection, comfort, and falling in love. The closing moments gently rework Palms by Petit Biscuit, a quiet homage to a shared soundtrack from that time.

Irrational (NOVK VIP) revisits a 2023 collaboration with ronnie wayne, reshaped here into something more volatile. The VIP leans into instability, with a second half inspired by Phonk aesthetics, darker, heavier, and intentionally unbalanced.
