(1) Dorothy Sayers has said that God underwent 3 great HUMILIATIONS in His effort to rescue the human race. The first was the Incarnation, when He took on the confines of a physical body. The second was the Cross when He suffered the ignominy of public execution. The third humiliation, Sayers suggested, is the church. In an awesome act of SELF-DENIAL, God entrusted His REPUTATION  to ordinary people like you and me. 

(2) “Vine’s Topical Commentary on Christ” by W. E. Vine with C. F. Hogg. 

(3) A popular definition of atonement is the phrase “at-one-ment”; in other words, it is a WAY that humans are made one with God when we formerly were alienated from Him by our sins. Atonement, at one time, simply meant “reconciliation” and could be used of the restoration of a relation between two parties. Over time, it took on a more theological meaning. 

(4) His name “Jesus” signifies “Jehovah is salvation.” 

(5) The means of accomplishing atonement required the DEATH of the Son of God AND the shedding of His BLOOD. 

(6) Jesus’ sacrifice was designed by God. 

(7) His death was therefore the FULFILLMENT of God’s PLAN of SALVATION which was the SOLUTION for humanity’s PREDICAMENT. 

(8) Christ’s sacrifice was VICARIOUS. 

(9) Christ chose death, and in that choice, the consequence was a great boon for His followers. 

(10) The New Atheists accuse God of being a MORAL MONSTER or a CHILD ABUSER. 

(11) False ideas of the atonement are largely due to WEAK VIEWS both of sin and of the holiness of God.

The foundation is the most important part of a structure. The depth of the foundation is influenced by external pressures against it.
In this parable, Jesus says the same is true for human beings.
In this parable, two men were doing the same thing, building a house. difference-the foundation.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:5-10 Jesus is the Cornerstone, the foundation to build upon.
The real test of your foundation is obedience to the commands of Jesus.
John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commands.”
John 14:21 “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.”
John 14:24 “Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching.”
Many claim to be Christians but in reality are just functioning atheists. Giving lip service to Jesus but living their lives as though He doesn’t exist.

Our “The Truth in Genesis” series was designed to allow listeners to hear a sample of the scientific evidence that is relevant to two of the most important topics that affect Biblical inspiration and infallibility: the age of the earth and universe and the origin and diversity of life. One of the biggest challenges facing most Christians is right at the beginning of the Bible in Chapter 1 where the Bible tells us that God created the heavens, the earth, and everything that exists on the earth including all living creatures and most especially, us. Supposedly, that claim is at odds with what contemporary science tells us about the universe and life. So, for a Christian to maintain their faith in the Bible today culture they must immediately confront the cultural challenge to the Bible’s proclamation about creation. In effect, our culture demands that we either surrender our faith in the Bible or our acceptance of science as a source of truth. I believe that we’ve shown through the episodes in this series that conscientious Christians don’t need to make that kind of a false choice.
