Before arriving to the studio to work with us, Colin Deady had done a crazy amount of gigging, written loads of songs and even done plenty of recording at home, but he had never finished or released a full length album of his own, so right from the start it was clear this long overdue record  had to be something special on all fronts. 

Having recorded all the traks start to finish at home Colin initially only planned on redoing drums and bass in the studio, taking advantage of the great acoustics and analogue front end, however it wasn't long before he realized he wanted to go deeper. Layer by layer, the original demmos were eventually replaced almost entirely by new performances which sounded and amazingly even felt better. The arrangements of some tracks were even altered along the way. Amazingly Colin played almost all instruments himself, and a great triumph of the project was the fact that through all this replacing and small bits of reworking, despite being recorded layer by layer by just one musician, the feel and atmosphere of his home demmos wasn't just kept intact, it was amplified. 

This track is an example of a rich and very layered sound which appears on much of the album, however the record winds through genres from stripped down folkish balads to full on rocking out.

Colin Deady - Under The Bridge

When we're not helping creative people realize their ideas into professional sounding recordings, we like to get creative ourselves, which often ends up being instrumental music that we then licence for use in advertising, films, TV etc. 

This track started out as a guitar riff that was a bit adictive to play sometime in 2013, and after recording it and adding some extra sections along with drums it remained untouched until 2014 when it was stumbled upon on one of the studio Hard Drives. 

A little old school overdriven bass guitar, some cheaky keyboard, hand claps, a final mix and it was done. 

Its been licenced for a number of placements already and if you happen to be interested in using this piece of music, just get in touch. 



Flurry - In House Production

Another track composed in studio for licencing, this started off with a cool reverse piano sound we were playing with and went from there. The most fun thing in t was using real life sound effects like passing traffic to add an atmospheric backdrop to the song without being obviously present!

Suburbial - in-house-production

This is a snippit of an MGMT track recorded live in the studio for Danica Holland for a series of videos she released. Danica is a fantastic vocalist and featured in the final rounds of the Voice of Ireland TV show as well as in the early round of X Factor UK. She is currently busy co-writing her own music in the studio and will be launching her pop career in 2015. Its fantastic to work with a pop vocalist who is not only comfortable doing fantastic versions of other artists songs like this but also getting down to creating her own originals.

Brian Casey - Funerals

Since releasing their debut album on a U.S. Indie label back in 2000, Cork band Paradox have kept things a bit international, popping up in the U.S., Canada, Berlin and of course at home in Ireland. 

It was the summer of 2013 when Pete the bands singer and guitarist got in touch about making some demmos in the studio with us, and very early on in working together it was clear that these tracks weren't just demmo material. 

Moving forward a year and a bit and the recordings have taken shape to become the bands most varied and adventurous work to date, combining the influence of 1990's alternative rock with more electronic elements as well as acoustic moments of peace. 

The priority with this album was allowing the happy accidents to happen, to lean on natural room sounds, spontanious performances and most of all, leave the songs room to breathe by starting fresh with a new approach for almost every track.

Paradox - Nothing Lasts

Dr. Voodoo is one of our most regular clients for recording, mixing and mastering, so much so we've had to invest in new Hard Drives specifically for his extensive body of work. 

This example is taken from a track that he did with two other highly skilled underground rappers Baron Syn Back, and Karnage. The beat for the track was put together by a fantastic UK producer called Markie and sounded excelent even before being mixed or mastered in the studio. In the mix we enhanced the atmospheric loops a little bit, sharpened up the vocals and made the bottom end really tight, ensuring it would have maximum impact and punch on all sound systems.

Interestingly I provided Dr. Voodoo with three different mixes of the track with three different approaches to mixing the hook/chorus of the track, so he's given me the go ahead to feature  the version I like here and the full version on his page is the one he prefered. Both have their place and its awesome working with an artist who knows what he wants when he's presented with a few options.
