Let this breast on which you have leant
As close in love as a foe in battle,
Unarmed, unarmored, grappling chest to chest,
Alone in the glade
Where birds started at our voices,
Laughter winging airborne, we struggled
For advantage, neither giving quarter;
How I remember your arms beneath my grip,
Sliding like marble slickened;
Your chest pressed to mine
Heaving;
As our feet trampled the tender grass
Your eyes narrowed with tender cunning
And I unaware
Until your heel caught my knee; I buckled,
Falling,
Vanquished; O sovereign adored,
To be pierced ecstatic by the shaft of victory;
Sweet the pain of losing,
Sweeter this second struggle…
O, dear my lord,

The Song of the Wanderer

Nobody, nobody told me,

But now I know where the rainbow ends

Being vulnerable.

I am put together girl,
Always go, shirtsleeves aswirl
Enthusiastic, going strong,
Happy to just run along,
Round the corner or round the bend?
What I do not understand
Is why I hide the other side
The side where nothing is alright
Hide my face covered in tears
Hide anxieties and fears
Tell no one you just came home
Gasping for space to be alone
No one is allowed in past the steel
To see me when I really feel that
Life is thoroughly too tough
And I will never be enough
I am not the person that you think
So today I show and tell
A tiny bit of private hell
Some days I teeter on the brink
Of sadness, too.

De Badkamergedachte

Waar gaat dat scheermes heen?
over kilometers been,
de afstand, welgemeten,
reeds na de enkel, scheen,
het scheermes snel vergeten.

Lieflijk schrapend onderdoor de armen,
wil het scheermes zich graag warmen,
aan een meer intieme plek....

Helaas, van al die scherpe dromen,
is niets terecht gekomen.

Reeds na de enkel, scheen,
ging het scheermes vredig heen.

Starry expanse

I was hung, 
clung,
at the precipice.

A mountainous fall,
presumably,
would end,
crushed,
underneath.

And yet, I realized
the moment I fell 
into that fissure,
I would not be destroyed 
as I had feared.

I had not slipped,
but beckoned,
by that starry space,
consciously ungripped,
free to fall.

I did not fall,
but transformed,
past innocence lost
and boundaries broken
to where endings
have not yet been written.

Here I am, 
back where I started:
soft little round thing
turned rigid cold ball.

I am walling you out
no matter your spine 
bends with mine
protectively.

Too much hurt
tensed together
to hold 
or be held.

Speech unravelled,
throat crushed,
lips sealed.

And not a sound will come.
