If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. We also don’t accept SoundCloud Go tracks, which can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which will be invisible to everyone. Charity single, ‘A Wild Christmas, We Broke Santa’ is the perfect addition to your alternative holiday season collection, and all for a great cause! This Christmas song is raising funds for the Stars Appeal, available for download on Bandcamp from December 1st. For a minimum donation of £1 (with the option to increase if desired), all Bandcamp profits for the track from the whole of December will be donated to the Stars Appeal on New Years Day.

This original song was intended for the new Shapes Like People album, but didn’t quite fit. It was too good a pop song not to use, so we’ve given it a Christmas makeover and thought it would be the perfect release to give something back to our community. From December 1st please do share the Bandcamp details as far and wide as you can!
Stars Appeal are aiming to raise £2million this calendar year to enhance care for patients across all wards and departments at Salisbury District Hospital, and support the NHS staff who care for them.

Wax Heart Sodality are a mysterious gothic garage rock outfit from the North-East. The band came together to elevate an individual down on their luck and to create something positive out of the humdrum and the mundane. To avoid preconceptions leading to misconceptions that could take focus from their music, they maintain their anonymity via their masks. 

Sonically, the quartet produces an expansive sound filled with piercing post-punk guitar, reverb-drenched baritone and gnarly beats. They are reminiscent of bands such as Bauhaus, Danzig and Depeche Mode and are cut from the same cloth as contemporaries such as Walt Disco and Urban Heat. Their music focuses on the undercurrents of the every day and the many masks we wear to be able to navigate through life, maintain the status quo and protect who we really are.

Live, the band’s theatrics and gyrations occupy the eyes, whilst the ears are overwhelmed by dark, impassioned tones that sync with the heart. 

Since their formation, just before the pandemic in late 2019, the band have gone on to receive radio play from BBC Introducing on Radio Tees/Newcastle, BBC 6 Music and Amazing Radio. They have performed at Whitby Goth Fest, Stockton Calling, Waves Festival and were chosen by Walt Disco to support them on their tour last year. The band were selected for Sage Gateshead's Summer Studios residency in 2021.
