In my early days I would always have these solo jam sessions where I would just record myself playing one instrument for about 7 or 8 minutes. Didn't matter how it sounded or how many bad notes were in it. Then I would add another instrument and so on and so on until I had something that sounded like a song. This track is one of the many that I actually thought of re doing into a fully produced song with real musicians but I never got around to it. Just thought I would share this creation with the world.

Basement Tracks 2001 - 2010 (Wayne's Solo Jam Session 2003)

The inspiration for this song came from the dance floor. This one was conceived after leaving a Club in Los Angeles. The music was originally an underground House track but when I started to put the vocal down, It didn't work with the music I had, so I changed the music. The underground version still exists but that version requires different lyrics.

In 2005 Lamech and I got together for a lyric and vocal brainstorm session. The Midi and Audio version of this song was among many I lost when I forgot to backup my hard drive in 2005 and the computer I was using crashed. You've never seen a grown man cry like I did when that happened. Lucky for me, I had a crazy habit of always recording ideas and sessions with an external recorder. The vocals on this version were just me and Lamech messing around. This track never got a chance to really develop and has been relegated to the Basement tracks 2001 - 2010 compilation.

In 2001 & 2002 I was all about the Proteus 2000 and I remember nights I didn't even go to sleep because of all the music I was hearing. Sleep, I didn't need no stinkin sleep, I had a proteus. Miss that bad boy. This track was recorded in 2002 using Cakewalk pro audio 9 and the proteus. Learning how to engineer has me going through so many old songs I don't even know where to start. finally letting these old songs outta of the box.

2004 was a pretty tumultuous time for me but the one thing that always remained constant was my ability to pick up a pen and write lyrics. This one is dedicated to my mother with whom I don't have a good relationship with but whom I credit for raising me around good soulful music. This song was never fully finished because of all the drama in my life in 2004. The vocal was just a test, the production wasn't going the way I wanted and I just decided to shelf it. Giving this version to the world as is.

Saxy Dance Pour Vous

When I first heard John Juster on Saxophone my immediate thought was, "I hope he'll agree to play on one of my songs". He did and the Jam session we had was amazing. 

Recorded in 2002, in a Studio City apt , this song was originally titled and dedicated to all the "Sexy Bitches On The Dance Floor" and days later I remember thinking, that title and the original lyrics don't jive with John's amazing Sax parts. While comping all the live Sax parts I heard John humming in between his playing and it was that humming that prompted me to shelf the original idea and create the following version. Giving this one to the world.

Written in 2004 during a very volatile situation. This song entered in string elements that I had been playing around with for a bit. Originally written as just a string piece (The original version was just Cello, Violin & Bass) I decided to incorporate a 4/4 dance element and the following song was born. The vocal is a first take vocal test recorded in a bathroom which I decided to keep. Would luv to have recorded this song in a major studio with a full orchestra....."Never stop Dreaming and don't let crackheads bring you down".

Learning to engineer has been an enlightening process and I'm just scratching the surface of many songs I wrote and recorded between 2001 and 2010. Love your life was written in 2006 during a rebuilding period of my life. This song quickly became that song that was never right, no matter what I did. After 20 different bass lines, & different keyboard parts, several arrangements & versions, this song was put on the shelf. After listening to it again in 2013 I decided to combine 2 of the better versions to make one song.  Giving this one to the world.
