K.MO's Wayout Records was founded in 2020 and has already been making a some serious noise concentrating on the 'deeper side of soulful house and electronica'.

The labels latest release see's label boss K.MO Step up to the plate with the ‘Space Funk EP’ which also features the supremely talented Byron The Aquarius and key wizard Tim Jules.

Comprising three tracks of stunning and original deep house it's an EP which is well worth tracking down. 

To celebrate the release we asked K.MO to put together a worship mix for us and he has gone deep in the incredible catalogue of Byron The Aquarius. Check it out below and please give the mix a share over on Soundcloud and help us spread the love.

K.Mo Feat Byron The Aquarius - Space Funk [Wayout Records]

Wayout Records was founded in 2020 by Manchester DJ and producer James Kumo aka K.Mo. Conceived as an outlet to house his own productions, with a vision to collaborate and form a collective with like-minded artists. The label  has dropped releases by Glasgow legends Manakins, Tokyo’s Mahal, London maverick Toby Tobias and French multi-instrumentalist Larry Quest.   Wayout Records dedicates its time and wax to the deeper side of soulful house and electronica.

 

Towards the end of June the label will release the ‘Space Funk EP’ by label head K.Mo,  featuring man of the moment Byron The Aquarius.  The deep house groove of ‘Space Funk’ has Byron on keys, laying down his trademark synth and bassline stabs courtesy of his Prophet 6.  The warm and soulful vibes sit alongside driving drum patterns and additional live percussion by Mauskovic Dance Band member Chris Bruining.  The B side opens with ‘Moon Light Shuffle’, delivering a captivating bass line with synth lead melodies accenting the organic solo to die for from the super talented Tim Jules. Close ‘Inner Soul’ is full of sparkle with heady pads, luscious piano chords again from Tim Jules, elevating this very credible record to a whole other level.

A power is on the earth and in the air,
From which the vital spirit shrinks afraid,
And shelters him in nooks of deepest shade,
From the hot steam and from the fiery glare.
Look forth upon the earth—her thousand plants
Are smitten; even the dark sun-loving maize
Faints in the field beneath the torrid blaze;
The herd beside the shaded fountain pants;
For life is driven from all the landscape brown;
The bird hath sought his tree, the snake his den,
The trout floats dead in the hot stream, and men
Drop by the sunstroke in the populous town:
As if the Day of Fire had dawned, and sent
Its deadly breath into the firmament.


~ Chapters ~

This story was translated by an ancient scribe and is told in different ways depending on the culture. The chapters have been lost but the story remains intact. 

~ Notes ~

Campfire Stories is a mix series by friends of Silent Season. The focus of the series is on storytelling through deeper electronic music. Artists weave together narratives using the emotional characteristics of ambient and techno music.
