An ode to the last tune of the night, warm pads, tidal synths and spoken word provide a sense of escapism.

“We had this idea of creating a last tune, something hyper reflective that you could bring the night to an end with. One of the only things keeping us sane during lockdown was making transportive music that conjured up club moments. The spoken word was given to us by a friend and it fit perfectly, the words really resonating with the state of things at that current time. Records like Burial’s 'Untrue' opened doors in our minds that electronic music can conjure feelings and visuals, something we've tried to achieve for the listeners of Sapphire Eyes.”

Wayward follow up their debut LP with a rugged four track ode to London clubbing.

The North London duo use spoken word over hard edged club-ready tracks that reach heights of 150bpm. Informed by influences like Addison Groove, Pangaea & Hessle Audio, Machine Drum, and Overmono.

“If our debut album showcased the more reflective side of our yearning for clubs, and a softer side of the lockdown experience, this EP is the anger, frustration and urgency coming out. Stuck indoors again just wanting to bang it out in a club with the intention of making something completely focused on the dance floor” - Wayward.

The result here is the perfect set of tools for any DJs arsenal to provide serious dance floor moments from 130 - 160/170bpm, the frustration channelled perfectly into the music to create raw club sounds. Written during perhaps the toughest lockdown endured when those hard winter months had darkness fill our mornings and early evenings, and making music that evoked feelings and memories of the club provided Wayward some solace. Title track ‘Sapphire Eyes’ was designed as a last tune of the night, ‘The Cause’, an immersive track that envelops you in sound, and a homage to the North London venue near to where they live. ‘Camden Road’ displays chopped up piano licks, spoken word, before getting rowdy and flipping on its head, and ‘Run Out Of Love’ with that rolling Reese bass, jump up DnB drum influence and U.K. drill vocal.

@waywarduk drop another explosive taster from their debut album ‘Waiting For The World’, coming via @silver-bear-recordings.

Third single ‘All A Bit Mad’ is built around the voice of Femi Koleoso, drummer of pioneering London nu jazz band @ezracollective.

Wayward said: “We feel like we’ve fully settled into making the music we should be. You don’t get a shot at a debut album twice, and we wanted to put out a sonically diverse record that is as energising as it is emotionally-evocative with atmospheric tracks to chill to, and ones with the energy of club impact. Before lockdown we’d seen Ezra Collective at The Roundhouse in London. The way that Femi addressed the crowd was more like an MC at a rave than the leader of a jazz band. The energy he created was so impressive that we had the idea to sample his voice. All A Bit Mad was the first tune we wrote during the lockdown period. Stuck in the house reminiscing about clubbing and thinking about the prospect of no live music for a considerable stretch of time was what inspired it”
