FHUO # 97 // Fefe

When OK EG enters Varden it’s 8:30PM on Sunday. It’s been a slow and steady build during the day, much slower than the day before, people have been given time to rest properly from a late night on Saturday. This is the journey. The ebb and flow of the forest. It’s their job to get the crowd going for the last couple of interval sprints. They are well rested and ready.

OK EG’s expansive sound is deep and diverse. Their compositions display a range that shifts between delicate, textural soundscapes, and spiralling, mesmerizing, mind-trip techno.

They first went to Monument festival in 2024, taking a break from a residency at EMS in Stockholm to spend a weekend in the forest. They brought a field recorder with them and spent time on the riverbank recording the sound of stones and water.

And listen to this level of dedication; while preparing for their live set in 2025, they used those recordings to write a closing track called Monument Stone. This is what they said about it. ”In the moment of performing it at the festival, we felt that everything came together. The crowd, the music and the site connected and it happened just as we’d imagined it.”

During their set day turns to dusk. We transition together, ready for the night - the sound, nature, forest and lights. Hand in hand.

welcome back to our collaboration with denmark’s kune festival where we will be sharing the sets and stories from their fifth edition earlier this year - taking a deeper dive into the scenes, sounds and style of the festival. 

for the second edition we’re putting the spotlight on århus tastemaker c.k who played twice during the festival and for this takeover we’re broadcasting his beautiful nighttime journey at the space stage.

a renowned producer and dj, known for delivering timeless & classy house music that has resulted in a recognisable ‘århus sound’ and making the city one of the vibrant when it comes to grassroots underground music. a man with many hats, c.k runs the prs record label, the vinyl distribution outlet safe distribution, the self-released safe radio output where c.k dives deeper into his record collection to show the full breadth of his influences and music that he’s loving at the moment (the most recent show was over 5 hours!) and has garnered a cult following as well as releasing tracks under various monikers (including his work with 2 bit crew and as part of the regelbau collective). a complete dedication to his craft and music as a whole, as you’ll discover when reading through the interview below, noting music is his main source of inspiration, “it comes in all forms”.

One of Melbourne's most longstanding & prolific mainstays for this week's Animix -@pjenne. Host of Passing Notes, on beloved community radio station PBS;  incredibly talented DJ , & co-founder of @companionmelb alongside another favourite, @millu .
 
Penny is an authentic example of what Melbourne and it's community look like.  She's been actively involved in the scene from all corners for a long time now - whether it be headlining parties & major fesivals (locally and abroad),  solo or alongside her DJ sister Millu; or running her beautifully curated weekly radio show which often highlights the incredible plethora of talented local DJs we have here in Australia. Alongisde Millu she also co-runs the increidble local output @companionmelb - which has seen epic releases from local artists, including Acopia, Kita and more.  

When i was first learning to DJ, it was inspiring to see women in the scene like Penny - an intelligent and driven powerhouse with loads of talent & taste to back it up - & most importantly, unashamedly herself.  Penny has a very distinctive style and has been instrumental in paving the way to what is now seen in the current global electronic music community as the "Australian sound" - even more importantly, as an early leading female figure. A local gem!

Animix One Hundred.& Eighty Five: Pjenne

The people say 30 is big, tho its feeling just right to be carried by this special live recording of Angus Mills’ set from Soma Festival 2026 - A weekend in the bush that will forever sit close to the Moonshoe heart.

The unruly clash another beloved VIC bush gathering, Hopkins Creek, meant I couldn’t make it to this year’s edition of Soma.. But am deeply grateful to be transported into the hills of Wiradjuri Country through this recording. 

Lifted, bouncy rhythms weave in and out of deeper, dreamy introspections - laced with weight that you can almost hear echoing off the hills around the Soma shades. Hopefully those who weren’t there can also feel a little of the magic through this… and that those who were, can be taken straight back . More Angus on Moonshoe ~ out very soon !
