I accidentally found a SHORT clip of an old version and outtake of one of my tunes DEEP BLUE in my archives.
Kind of an interesting find... and good enough I thought why not post it on SoundCloud.
I ultimately decided on a different approach as can be heard on the "official" version of Deep Blue, which I had released in 2017.

DEEP BLUE ANOMALY (Audric Jankauskas-2017)

Witnessing the fascinating conjunction of Venus and Jupiter from my hostel window prompted me to revisit one of my early attempts at writing music for solo MIDI electronics. 

"Celestial Dance", composed in May 2019, is in three parts, each following the other attacca, without pause. The harmonic structure of the work is derived from the clash (conjunction!) of two diminished seventh chords, with their root notes a semitone apart. Pierre Boulez had used such a chord in Sur Incises (and Incises)  which piqued my interest in its sonority. The instrumentation albeit MIDI oriented (which allowed me to push the instrumental performance to superhuman virtuosity) is made up of the instruments Boulez used in Sur Incises - with the addition of an electronic piano and solo strings.

This will be the first release from a forthcoming album. It's partly about the current political climate we live in but also delves a little bit into my time at school. I tried to create a character that is dissolution with his social predicament that ends up succubming to right wing propaganda. It's not as bleak as it sounds! 
The chorus focuses on an imagined political figure that uses propaganda to change the minds of millions within the U.K. It takes part around 2016. I wonder who I might be singing about? You can't break the heart of the nation essentially means you can fool some of the people most of the time but not ALL the people ALL of the time. I have used the question in the last phrase of the song; can ya? Because lets face it they did. The right sort of broke the heart of the nation but the nation hasn't realised it yet!

Queen's Prayer (Ke aloha o ka Haku - The Mercy of the Lord) is one of many beautiful hymns by Liliuokalani (1838-1917), the last monarch of Hawaii. As she writes in her own hand at the bottom of the sheet music: "Composed during my imprisonment at Iolani Palace by the missionary party who overthrew my government. March 22nd 1895" She dedicated the hymn to her niece and heir-apparent, Victoria Kaiulani. My arrangement and translation of the first two verses.
