Em has a wome's studies degree and she has presented at the National Women's Studies association on rape culture and masculinity. She has also studied male identities as a driver of authoritarianism in the US. These things she has really been passionate about personally and politically for well over a decade. 

Em has been subject to violence in her relationship, and she has been sexually assaulted by men. Gender based violence is way too common and too many victims are being silenced.

Elaine Birks-Mitchell created The Bra Recyclers in 2008 with her husband Johnny Mitchell, Jr. She left her over 25-year career in the information technology industry to pursue her vision of wanting to make a living from her giving. Men on a mission to end sexism and misogyny

Aluna was born from a strong desire to protect and share with the world, the remarkable Indigenous crafts and traditions found in Colombia. Little is known that Colombia is, in fact, an incredibly diverse and culturally rich country. One hundred ancestral tribes inhabit the Colombian territory, out of which, 18 are endangered. Largely neglected by the government and vulnerable to illegal drug trade conflict, these peoples have fought not only for their survival, but also to keep their traditions and cultures alive.

Crafts, usually transmitted from generation to generation, are one of the main ways how Indigenous peoples preserve their cultures.
The objects created by Indigenous peoples are not only beautiful but highly symbolic. Each object captures a portion of the maker’s life, perpetuating traditions and ways of life that have existed since pre-Columbian times. Ancestral objects are vessels of wisdom and heritage, to be cherished and valued as the works of art that they truly are.

Lähisuhdeväkivalta koskettaa lähes jokaista suomalaista tavalla tai toisella. Lähisuhdeväkivalta herättää tunteita ja siihen liittyy paljon erilaisia käsityksiä, myös vääriä ja vahingollisia. Haluamme toiminnallamme ja kannanotoillamme purkaa lähisuhdeväkivaltaan liittyvää leimaa ja hälventää häpeää, jotta avun hakeminen olisi aiempaa helpompaa. Jokaisessa ihmisessä on potentiaali tehdä väkivaltaa ja kuka tahansa saattaa joutua väkivallan kokijaksi.

Suomessa on kysyntää väkivaltatyön osaamiselle ja yksityinen Hyvinpitely on perustettu täydentämään nykyistä palvelutarjontaa. Tavoitteemme on olla aktiivinen toimija väkivallan ehkäisyssä sekä tarjota asiakkaillemme ammattitaitoisia palveluita heidän yksilöllisiin tarpeisiinsa nopeasti ja helposti. Jokaisella on oikeus saada apua ja tulla kohdatuksi arvostaen.

Moja - More than your underwear
On a school trip to Tanzania, we realised many children didn’t have the financial means to buy underwear and sanitary pads. This contributes to an increased risk of disease and infection, and also to school attendance.

But in our eyes, the system of giving is broken. It doesn’t work. It hurts local economies and dumps products that people don’t always need.

So we started Moja not only to improve hygiene and education, but also to create a business model that improved livelihoods of local people.

Local people with a distance to the labour force are trained in sewing and entrepreneurship. Underwear and sanitary pads are produced and distributed alongside hygiene workshops.

Joka kolmas nainen maailmassa kohtaa väkivaltaa oman kumppanin tai perheenjäsenen toimesta. Se on liian monta.

Nils Adler is a British-Swedish Journalist. Nils has written for a wide range of publications and his photographs have been featured in the Guardian and El País. He has reported from a number of regions including the UK, Turkey, Ukraine, Malta, Iraq, Mozambique, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Belarus, and Iraqi Kurdistan.

Nils Adler has been writing an article about honor-based violence. He has been working with a British Women’s rights organization IKWRO and has traveled to Kurdistan to investigate "honor" based violence there as well as researching the issue in Europe. 

In the #takeaction podcast and with his article about honor violence, Nils gives voice to those women who are being silenced by their own family in the name of family honor.

#takeaction podcast guest Christina Namusaazi is the founder of She Unit Uganda, an organization established to increase the living standards of girls who have not had the opportunity to attend school, or have dropped out due to early marriage or pregnancy. 
She Unit Uganda is a community based organization based in Kampala, Uganda. The vision is to create financially independent ladies and it's mission is to empower women. 

The goals of the NGO are: 
- Provide teenage girls with skills that will help them earn a living and become financially independent citizens.
- Making the girl child feel recognized in society despite the fact that they didn't get a chance to go to school.

She Unit Uganda helps young girls that didn't have a chance to go to school, by giving them a chance to redefine their future. The organization does it by giving them free vocational training in hairdressing, makeup, pedicure and manicure free of charge because these girls are from vulnerable poor families.

Lähisuhdeväkivalta koskettaa maailmanlaajuisesti joka kolmatta naista. Viimeisimmän Euroopan laajuisen tutkimuksen mukaan vuodelta 2014 Suomi oli Euroopan toiseksi väkivaltaisin maa naisille ja vuotuiset kustannukset 1,2 miljardia euroa. Lähisuhdeväkivalta on monelta osin tabu, josta ei kehdata tai uskalleta puhua. Kuitenkin, se koskettaa liian montaa naista jokaisessa yhteiskuntaluokassa. Suomessa väkivallan kokijoiden tukijärjestemä ja avun tarjoajien sekä sidosryhmien koulutus ei ole sillä tasolla kuin sen kaltaisessamme hyvinvointivaltiossa kuuluisi olla.
