Sk’p is a name that is instantly recognizable to those who are into some speeded up, playful, incredibly clean but detailed glitch tunes and not a stranger to chiptune madness as well. But that's just one side of him. 
A very prolific and active producer hailing from Belgium, he decided to release on Crazy-Language a very different output from what he usually does, being slowing things down while still retaining his trademark sound of beautiful immediate melodies, clicky beats and a very precise song structure. 
Inside Astravel are half a dozen of smooth, slow-paced classic IDM compositions that take no time on getting a warm and fuzzy feeling out of you. It’s simple, effective and very fun to re-listen time and time again, so you can start digging deeper onto all the nifty little details that are present inside. Complementing the six solid tunes Sk’p has to offer, you can still count on a couple of remixes from two of the label’s finest: Huron and Enabl.ed. Fitting like a glove to Berlin’s finest net label, Sk’p is already at home. (F.G.)

"Gentleforce Presents: Australian Ambience for The Observatory"

Gentleforce is an  ambient solo project by Sydney-based sound artist, Eli Murray. Even if you haven't seen the name before, there’s a good chance you’ve heard his music. His sounds have been included in installation works at festivals such as Underbelly Arts and Vivid Sydney, featured in the Australian Ballet’s advertising program, shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize award, and found their way into documentaries and film on the ABC and SBS networks.

Murray has always based his work in the worlds of field recordings and meditational synth music, with a focus on psychogeography and its interaction between the natural environment, spatial histories, and the emotional impact these have on the individual. Fusing these concepts with his love of traditional ceremonial music from around the world, and the influence of his many
years of DJ’ing at clubs, has created a unique melting pot of sounds to submerge the listener within. Meditation is at the core of everything Murray does, and his music has always aspired to transcendence through deep listening. Guiding the listener to healing and positive sound environments.

"When Jay asked me to contribute to The Observatory's mix series, I took it as an opportunity to focus solely on Australian artists creating music and field recordings that are built around this amazing landscape I call home. It's overwhelming if you look at the wealth of talented musicians and labels in Australia that create ambient style music, so I decided to create a mix based around artists that I know personally or have directly influenced my own music productions. Even hyperfocusing on this group of musicians was still challenging, as there was a lot of great music to choose from. But, I feel the outcome is sonically coherent and also quintessentially sounding of the bush and coastline meeting together. The tracks mixed are mostly long-form pieces, so I let each song breathe and melt slowly into one another with a meditative mindset. A big thank you to Jay at The Observatory for giving me this opportunity, Marcus at Holosuite Mastering for the magic audio sprinkles, and all artists featured that have inspired me along my own creative journey. The Observatory - Gentleforce

Acclaimed author Neil Gaiman performs a memorable dramatic reading from NYPL’s own rare copy of "A Christmas Carol," which includes edits and prompts Charles Dickens wrote in his own hand for his unique public readings 150 years ago. Dressed in full costume and joined by writer and BBC researcher Molly Oldfield, Gaiman performs the classic tale as its great author intended.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! If I was wrong on the date, I apologize, I honestly didn't think I was still going to the Limelight after 1993 and thats why I dated it earlier. 

Yes the sound quality isn't the best but like I said I snuck in a Sony portable DAT recorder and recorded it straight from the crowd from the floor level right below the DJ booth. 
While I was outside on line, the security guard frisked me at the door and was like "what the hell is that? You can't bring that in here!" I told him its just a walkman and he let me go in with it. I'm lucky to even have this bad recording to be honest.
While we were waiting for his set, Richard James walked by me and this kid I was with and the kid stopped him and asked "hey my friend snuck in a DAT recorder, can we record right from your mixer??? RDJ just laughed in his face, said NO! and walked away. Haha.

Back in the early 1990s when techno was just starting to explode in NYC, I snuck a portable DAT recorder into the Limelight nightclub when Richard James, The Aphex Twin was DJing a very rare live set. I recorded his entire 1hr set from the crowd and then put the DAT away for 25+ years. The other day with the help of my friend Tony Rodriquez (LUV4WAX)and his DAT machine, we finally made a digital copy of the set and finally uploaded it for all to hear. As far as I can remember, RDJ did only 2 live performances (one performance blew out the power to the entire club and left the place pitch black and silent for a few minutes!) and 1 DJ set at the Limelight during that time. I have never heard a live set from RDJ from the Limelight so this might be the only recording of this set (please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks!) The recording is loud and noisy just like 90s techno but I think its clear enough to enjoy. If you can ID any tracks to create a track list, feel free to post it in the comments!

Tras 11 años de haberse formado, esta es la carta de presentación de Sans Libertas, donde se dieron tiempo para recrear y grabar su haber, conservando una forma de hacer punk muy al estilo de los 80's y 90's: un punk sucio, pero digerible y entendible.

For me, it is wonderfully bittersweet to release "Scenes from Suburbia (waag_rel136)" by Cousin Silas & Candy L so close to  Candy's birthday ... I'm not sure how old she would have been if she had not lost her battle against cancer and, to be honest, it doesn't matter ... what matters is that the world and our wee community of DIY ambient musicians is considerably poorer for her not being with us.

"Scenes from Suburbia (waag_rel136)" was created in collaboration between the adorably prolific Cousin Silas and Candy, who somehow managed to fit in recording her parts to their album while running a netlabel that I, for one, was equally proud and envious of. Candy's work ethic was unparalleled, as was her creative expression. The atmospheric expressions contained within this album are truly extraordinary, they are varied and engaging ... and serve to remind us how much poorer we are for not having Candy in our midst. 

This album was earmarked for release on Candy's label - Studio 4632 - but wasn't released due to Candy's untimely passing. I don't think I am alone in thinking that Candy would not have wanted it to languish on the digital equivalent of a dusty shelf, Cousin Silas certainly didn't think so when he offered it to waag. I am proud to give this album a home and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
