Brighton based UK producer Kenny Keys debuts on Piston with wonderful Source and comes backed up with two quality remixes. Kenny has been delivering his faultless cuts for a few years now and his tracks have appeared on Massive Music, GND Records and Kompass Recordings. We're delighted to have this guy on board and look forward to more in the future.

First up we have the Original Mix of Source which intros with a brilliant percussion driven groove alongside a punchy club kick. The rolling percs are tweaked to perfection and become a major player on the track. A fantastic deep sub bass bursts through with a cool plucky synth over the top which is replaced with a sublime sliding riff. Super tight arrangement that will be a big feature for many floors no doubt.

No introduction needed for Piston boss Rogerio Martins as he steps up with a superb remix. Beautifully tapered kicks pack a huge punch on the intro and throughout as the rolling percussions build us up to the main groove. The groove is intensified with a brilliant deep bass that has the power to move, this is coupled with a classy chord that filters in and out beautifully. Silky smooth female vocals give it the club feel making this an absolute gem of a track that will light up many floors this summer!

Italian DJ and producer Marcus Raute spends his time between Naples and Berlin where no doubt he draws from both cultures to refine his own sounds. Marcus is a player in the modern underground world where he dishes out his brand of all things House and Techno. Here he delivers a solid remix that intros with a chunky kick and cool, crispy hats and percussions. Deep chords rise up from the depths and blossom into a very cool, sliding riff before leaving the scene and letting those tight drums, pulsing basses and vocals do their work. The break reveals those chords once again and locks us in for the duration, superb stuff!

Kenny Keys - Source (Piston Recordings)

UK producer Capryo debuts on Piston with his superb three tracker Hold Back EP. Based in London and a relative newcomer to the scene, Capryo likes to delve into House and Techno and with this new EP we get a very cool blend of the two with a leaning towards the deeper house side.

First up is the title track Hold Back, nice and smooth classic percussion intro that gets the heads nodding with the booties soon following. Soft chords fade through and bring that deep house feeling into the mix before we get pounded by a monster kick and throbbing bass combo that will have the bassbins shuttering. Super crispy hats and tight percussions provide a solid rhythmic groove that will no doubt keep any floor rocking, not to be missed.

Entity is up next and gets right in on the action from the off with a solid 4x4 beat with chunky kicks and crispy sharp rhythmic percussions. Expertly tweaked deep chords come through giving a wonderful texture to the groove as subtle vocal samples play out. The bassline is perfectly placed among the rolling kicks to provide a super solid groove in which to shake that ass to. The break dishes out some very nice synth and key work alongside very cool vocal samples. A very tight pumping groove that will be a welcome addition in any set.

Move On completes this fantastic EP with a brilliant driving hypnotic trait. The intro gives a big punchy kick and bright crispy hats to get things moving while a high pitched string is contrasted with smooth deep melodic chords. The big hitter here is the superb bassline that just drives the groove beautifully creating that hypnotic feel, this feeling is heightened with the addition of some cool vocal samples. On the break we get a brilliant synth riff and superb drum sequence that takes us back to the main groove. One for the late night parties here and a definite must for the deep house masses.

Portugal's cutting edge electronic music label Piston Recordings reaches a double milestone in 2017 as it celebrates 10 years as well as its 300th release. To mark this occasion we get a dosing of deep house grooves on the two track 300 EP courtesy of label head honcho, Rogerio Martins. Since 2007 Rogerio has showed true grit and determination to get his label to where it is today, at the forefront of a worldwide scene where the sounds of Piston are championed by a multitude of top DJ's. The Piston ethos has been embraced by many artists and the demand is ever more popular and artists from around the world delight at the prospect of releasing their material through Piston which is why there is a consistent stream of quality cuts. Here's to another 300 releases and another 10 years!

No Gimmicks intros with a solid kick drum and cool shuffling hat arrangement that gets the rhythm flowing nicely before a super bright crispy hi hat joins in. A superb dancing, chunky bassline delivers a killer blow that will definitely get feet to the floors. Rogerio dishes out a real treat here, especially with the huge filtered piano chords that will attract the discerning clubber if only for its nostalgic appeal. A diva inspired vocal wails through the track beautifully making this an absolute stomper and a must have.

Secondly we have the deliciously warm and endearing Find The Love which intros with nice subby kick drums and a crispy hi hat combo. Smooth house chords fade in and we soon find ourselves engrossed in a lush groove. The track delivers a solid rhythmic flow thanks to tight drums and percussions while cool vocals bring in a clubby vibe. The bass resides deep within the sound here and will certainly give the bassbins a bit of work to do. A definite dancefloor contender here you do not want to miss.

Otto Veisenberger aka Ascaloon and Zoltan Salai aka Chrono join forces with their debut on SRUR with this superb three tracker "Balkan Express EP". Both guys hail from Subotica, Serbia where they DJ at top clubs and festivals. They have a hugely impressive back catalogue on many labels with tech house, deep house and techno being their main styles. Otto first got into music at the age of 10 when he would play records from the 70's and 80's. This developed into a full blown DJ career and productions soon followed. Zoltan also began his musical journey at an early age with DJing being his big focus with many gigs all over the country. He soon met up with Otto and they began to organise parties all over Serbia and they were tagged as the "new generation", like his friend he soon found himself on the producing side and now they emerge with this stomper.

First up is "South Singer", a techno cum deep house hybrid with all the trappings you'd expect. Nice chunky kicks and sharp hats provide a steady rhythm with a superb bassline showing early on. Cool deep chords give that house vibe with an expert display of FX on offer. A brilliant vocal sample adds texture to this top tune.

"Jungo" is up next with a full on techno flavour, real chunky kicks overlay an amazing percussion section with a huge deep bassline throbbing throughout. Classic stabs come through on the break with FX shoring up the sound. A very surreal flute riff is coupled with some great vocal samples to round off this top notch track.

"Let's Fuck" gets right into deep tech grooves from the off, flowing rhythms on the percussions are accompanied with some groovy basslines and high pitched strings. Short vocal samples and brilliant FX are done very well here. Straight in your face tech with a bouncy vibe that will go down well in the darker rooms.

History learns people have always seen us as ambassadors of quality electronic music regardless the genres we touch. Over the years music has evolved, so did our musical taste, a combination which is pushing us to think more forward.

In order to focus on what we really want to do and giving artists what they deserve, it's become necessary to discontinue some of our labels. Most of these labels are part of that trance scene which we helped develop in the early 90's. The trance scene of today does not fit our vision, so we will fully focus our 3 remaining trance labels (Subtraxx, Camouflage & Nemesis) on quality progressive trance.

You will wonder now what we really want to focus on, well deep progressive, mini tech, tech house and real progressive house as we have been doing in our own way over the past year on Bonzai Progressive, Bonzai Basiks, ...
