PREMIERE: Paradoks - Flourish (Extended Mix) [Purified Records]

After showcasing his first work on the label for the Odd Echoes series, Losless returns with his debut EP ¨Second Life¨.

Opening the EP, the track ¨Away¨ already captures the attention with its rolling deep groove, quirky sounds and catchy melodies. The slow build up keeps the tension going through the track, and it’s released on the drop, where the more melodic pads and chords come in, and returns with a powerful bass triad synth stab.

Next it follows ¨Overthrow¨ a similar deep, melodic groovy cut, but with a haunting female vocal that follows on the track. You can listen to Losless mastering the craft of his productions with all the details along his music, that showcases his stamp.

Going deeper in the EP, we encounter the more melodic and emotional cuts. The melancholic pads and synths of ¨Isometric Past¨ takes you into a beautiful trip, while maintaining the energetic mood. 

Last but not least two versions of ¨Second Life¨ where the original version focuses on breaks, melodies and subtle voices fx. For the remix duties, Mark Hoffen, approaches his version on a more 4x4 take, full of energy and writing some beautiful chords and pads, that take this cut into another spectrum.

Sternstunde, as its name suggests, is testament to a producer staying the course. Not letting motivation, or a lack of, get the better of you. A defining moment. Written during a difficult lockdown period, Sternstunde's melody suddenly came together for German artist Solee. It was the catalyst, not only for completing the tune, but also for a stream of new found inspiration.

That same melody was also the hook for Joris Voorn. 'The moment I heard Sternstunde for the first time I recognised beauty in its simplicity.' It soon became a firm favourite for the Spectrum boss, but as with many of his faves he went to work with his scalpel and wizardry, crafting an edit for his sets that takes the track to a new dimension. 'I decided to make an edit that let the melody be more present than the drums. Over the months of playing it I've received so many requests for it to be played at my future shows, so it felt like a good idea to release it.'

Lex returns to Piston Recordings and this time he joins forces with Esteban De Haro and Kel to deliver the superb Three Laws Of Audio. DJ, producer, artist, label owner, Alex (Lex) of Athens Greece, represents a way of life that embraces innovation, evolution and communion through sound. His last outing on Piston was alongside Dimi Wilson on Thoughts About It which picked up a lot of support and featured in many charts and playlists. He runs his own labels and has amassed quite an impressive back catalogue, great to see him back for more and hope to see even more in the future. Esteban De Haro debuts on Piston and brings a refined tech house sound to the mix, definitely an artist to watch. Kel also debuts on Piston and brings a wealth of experience to the sound. Since 2007 Kel has dished out quality cuts on various labels and has worked alongside Lex on their recent cut Jexin on Frole Records.

First up we have Lex (Athens) & Esteban De Haro with Three Laws Of Audio which intros with a smooth and groovy drum arrangement that lulls you into the sound. A solid rhythmic flow comes out of the shuffling hats and beautifully arranged percussions as bright synth notes ease in alongside stuttered vocals. A deep, walking bassline comes through to take over and brings the sound deeper, delivering a solid tech house groove to get the floors pumping. A very cool track indeed with a plethora of FX that blend together perfectly creating a rich texture that will most definitely appeal to many.

Next we have Lex (Athens) featuring Kel with Texas Maggot. The intro here boasts a strong, punchy kick drum and shuffling hats alongside a sharp clap. Bright crispy hi hats come through and cut through the bassy tail of the kicks like a knife. A surreal vibe takes over when the clangy synth chords come into play alongside a deep meandering bassline. The groove is deep here and the collection of warm sounds and smooth vocals will keep it there. Top notch stuff indeed, definitely not to be missed.

History learns people have always seen us as ambassadors of quality electronic music regardless the genres we touch. Over the years music has evolved, so did our musical taste, a combination which is pushing us to think more forward.

In order to focus on what we really want to do and giving artists what they deserve, it's become necessary to discontinue some of our labels. Most of these labels are part of that trance scene which we helped develop in the early 90's. The trance scene of today does not fit our vision, so we will fully focus our 3 remaining trance labels (Subtraxx, Camouflage & Nemesis) on quality progressive trance.

You will wonder now what we really want to focus on, well deep progressive, mini tech, tech house and real progressive house as we have been doing in our own way over the past year on Bonzai Progressive, Bonzai Basiks, ...
