'Presenting their first release of the year, EDGE welcomes Eric Lune and Juan Sapia to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Australia, Eric Lune emerged from his country's progressive music landscape in 2018. Noted for his emotional dance floor productions, Eric's craft shines through vividly, making each one of his creations an incredibly absorbing experience. A debut on Sound Avenue foreshadowed what has been a four-year creative swell for the Melbourne resident. A string of well-received projects for Balance Music, Plattenbank, Proton Music and Sound Avenue have yielded play and support from Guy Mantzur, Eelke Kleijn and Nick Warren. Meanwhile, hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Argentina, Juan Sapia has enjoyed a similar rise to success since first emerging in 2017. As a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, the Buenos Aires resident has compiled an impressive resume, landing releases via Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Eric and Juan debut on EDGE with ‘Diamonds’, alongside a remix from Eran Aviner & Hermanez. 

EP opener and title selection ‘Diamonds’ finds that perfect balance between rhythm and musicality, as Eric and Juan let hopeful atmospheres descend over warm beats and layers of dusty drums. Thematically distinct moving forward, soulful strums and scenic vocal edits ring out in timeless suspension, elevating mood while providing a bridge into the main break. Sure to be a memorable dance floor moment, percussive slowly melts away across the centrepiece, as melodic clusters emerge and each sound becomes an event in a slowly expanding landscape, zooming out to reveal a world of scale in which depth and contrast coax perfectly with colour and emotion. The inevitable zenith of this heartwarming narrative peaks with a rare combination of hope, heartache and reflection, ultimately setting the course for a groovy drop and tasteful finale. Meanwhile, the companion piece ‘Himalaya’ lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, as Eric and Juan reaffirm their progressive prowess, planting multiple explosions of serotonin through transcendent melodies, vocal overlays and glassy motifs. Clever musical co-actions make for a break that is both poignant and otherworldly, flowing through wavy arps and emotive key changes, before confidently returning to the groove for a sweeping, acid-laced finale. '

Clubsonica Records opens the summer season by welcoming Juan Sapia back to the label for a new EP. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Argentina, Juan Sapia has enjoyed a steady rise since first emerging in 2017. As a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, the Buenos Aires resident has compiled an impressive resume, landing releases on top tier imprints such as EDGE, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Sudbeat Music, and The Soundgarden. Now, following an EP for Argentina's pad records to begin the year, Juan makes a welcome return to the label with 'Aura | Forest Song', alongside remixes from Paul Deep and Leo Guerrero. 

As the progressive grooves and swaying rhythms of opener ‘Aura' unfold, it's clear that Juan's craft must be taken to heart. Renowned for his trance-inspired melodies, the Buenos Aires resident opts for a deeper approach here, working placid pads over dulcet grooves and dusty percussive arrangements. Building patiently across the first movement, its creamy tones and heartfelt harmonies marry beautifully during a transcendent break, before layers of wind-swept sonics cue a gorgeous drop and glowing finale. Beneath the calming waves of ‘Aura' lies a tastefully melodic production entitled ‘Forest Song'. Evoking a confident club energy from the start, Juan's colourful sonics, emotionally resonant hooks and nostalgic melodies blanket a tight yet groovy framework. With an infectious energy that could win over even the most discerning of fans, it's a journey that becomes unabashedly epic at its peak, as melodies unite in a whirlpool of textural bliss, making for a sure fire dance floor weapon.

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Aura' is Paul Deep. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, the Argentinean artist has compiled an impressive resume along the way, landing releases via All Day I Dream, Tale & Tone, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat. World class DJs Lee Burridge, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have all been steadfast supporters of Paul's sound. With his year being highlighted by an EP for Dmitry Molosh's Proportion imprint, Paul now makes a welcome return to Clubsonica with a stellar rendition of ‘Aura'. Focusing on a slightly darker monochrome, the Buenos Aires resident goes deep and techy for what results in a heady nine-minute journey. Rebounding rhythms and deep chugging basslines set the course for snatches of flickering percussion and growling stabs. Looking to bring a greater emotional response, the main break shifts the narrative through heartfelt chord changes and trance-inducing melodies, before a wave of white noise perfectly sets up a stripped back drop and meditative finale. 

The release concludes with Leo Guerrero making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Forest Song'. Hailing from Colombia, new  inspirations led Leo to progressive music where he restarted his production journey under his own name, while finding a home on Antrim's Strangers Beats and D-Nox's Sprout. Continuing on this explorative path, the Medellin resident now adds Clubsonica to his resume with a powerful take on ‘Forest Song'. Beginning with a buoyant kick and galloping groove, the Colombian artist channels the melodic energy of the original through panoramic synths and percolating arps, before a deconstructed take on the main musical theme emerges across the break, perfectly setting up a thrilling peak-time finale. A gorgeous interpretation from Leo, which rounds out a must have return to Clubsonica for Juan Sapia, an artist who continues to stand out in Argentina's progressive house landscape.

Robbie Akbal is a Mexican organic house artist who recently launched his new record label, Midnight Riders. The label's new release features enchanting original music from Robbie Akbal alongside remixes by Alex Twin and Jim Rider.

Midnight Riders is sister label to Robbie Akbal's long-established Akbal Music with the aim of creating an outlet for the more melodic side of his sound.

One of North America's most respected underground artists, Robbie Akbal is known for his laidback grooves with soothing melodies and earthy percussion. He has travelled the world to DJ everywhere from Berlin to Tokyo, and is also a skilled producer that along with releasing music via his own record labels, has also featured on other prestigious imprints such as Sol Selectas and Crosstown Rebels.

On remix duty, Alex Twin is an organic house artist from Dubai who is a driving force within the country's club scene where he DJs regularly. He is also a talented producer who has built up a back catalogue including music on labels such as Bar 25, Cosmic Awakenings and Pipe & Pochet.

Also providing a remix, Jim Rider is a UK artist with close ties to Lee Burridge and his record labels All Day I Dream, TRYBESof and Tale & Tone. He has also released his majestic style via the likes of Kindisch and Akbal Music.

"Phangan" is the solo original track on this release and it's a mesmerising piece of music that orientates around upbeat percussion and trippy synth pads, which lay the foundation for a stunning sitar performance by Sidartha Siliceo. The track's breakdown is cut by dramatic bursts of percussion as it builds suspense to when the kick drum reappears and the sitar lifts it to new levels of psychedelia.

Alex Twin's remix of Phangan loops sections of the sitar and adds additional percussion to create a chunky groove that doesn't lose any of the original's trippy vibes while stepping the energy up a gear.

Jim Rider's remix adds a melodic bassline and epic synths that give his version an expansive sound, which creates an uplifting vibe shrouded in an immersive atmosphere that's perfect for the dance floor.

Bahrain born Dubai based producer Zone + aka Zeyad Mohsen has been a fixture of the deep house community for the better part of a decade. Having firmly established himself with a resonate worldly sound and releases via All Day I Dream, Akbal Music, Hoomidaas and Sol Selectas; Zone + now sits as one of organic music's elite talents. Also, a consummate DJ, Zone + has taken his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills to some of the world's premiere clubs and festivals, playing alongside Behrouz, Guy Mantzur, Lee Burridge, Rodriguez Jr., YokoO and more. Now, in a year that has seen Zone + feature on Tim Green's recent Balance compilation, he continues to impress with his Just Movement debut 'Labyrinth', alongside a remix from Hermanez. 

With a whimsical flair, it is the original mix which leads the release off. Warm, voluptuous basslines lay the foundation for spirited vocal elements and panoramic arps to work their magic. Driving percussive arrangements maintain an energetic cadence, while timely chord changes and placid pads move from esoteric to emotive leading into the break. Masterfully constructed, the interlude delights with its buoyant rhythmic themes, eventually melting down to calming percussive rides, perfectly setting the course for a groovy finale. 

The release concludes with Hermanez making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Labyrinth'. Hailing from Belgium, Hermanez brings an inventive approach to his brand of electronic composition. Throughout his varied discography, he touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling a divide between intergalactic design and organic-inspired beats, resulting in one amorphous sound of his own. Initially known for his timeless, tech-soul productions on Mobilee Records, Noir Music and Suara, the Genk resident has enjoyed a career renaissance across the last half decade, remodelling his sound with deeper, more musical and delightfully organic leanings. It's a shift that has propelled him into one of the genre's elite talents, in turn landing him projects via All Day I Dream, Bedrock, Lost and Found, Souksonic and TRYBESof. Now, fresh off an EP for YokoO's SATYA imprint, Hermanez makes his Just Movement debut with a spiritual take on 'Labyrinth'. While maintaining the glowing spirit of the original, the Belgian artist crafts a sweeping sonic experience all his own, a transcendent journey into an organic hinterland, where fragmented vocals, warm synth phrasing and charming effects surface from their exotic architecture, onwards to a finale of balmy grooves and haunting overlays.

Since emerging in 2017, UK artist Jim Rider has enjoyed measurable success across the last half-decade. A release on Lee Burridge’s Tale & Tone set the course for a four-year creative swell, one which would see the London resident record projects for All Day I Dream, Akbal Music, Kindisch, Tale & Tone, TRYBESof and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. This consistent stream of superlative releases alongside extensive global touring has firmly placed Jim amongst the organic movements elite class of producers, with a bevy of the genre’s tastemakers championing his work. Now, fresh off the release of his latest ADID vehicle ‘Two More Days’, Jim Rider makes his Musique de Lune debut with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Oaxaca Moonshine’.

As the whimsical melodies and exotic percussion of opener ‘Oaxaca Moonshine’ unfold, it’s clear that Jim’s craft is continuing to evolve. There’s a strong sense of cruising initially, letting the listener relish in the groove and panoramic musicality, before clustered pianos drive energy and mood into a spirited break. Vibrant chord stabs and sparkling electronics set the backdrop for a spoken word vocal sample to captivate your imagination, making for a hugely memorable break, and one which effortlessly transitions into a piano infused drop and sweeping sonic finale.

The companion piece ‘The One That Got Away’ picks up the pace just a touch but follows the astute musicality of it’s predecessor quite nicely. Panning tonal themes and magical sounding arps make a strong initial impression, one which is nicely followed by looping vocals and riding percussion. A sensational coax of sound that works wonders in creating swing and depth within the framework, but what it also does is perfectly set up up a finale of retro-tones and one stellar drum fill which should not only be deadly on a dancefloor, but rounds out the release on a high note. Any murmurings of staleness and paint by numbers melodies within the organic genre can be put to rest with these two productions, which show at the elite level the genre is continuing to flourish. Highly recommended.
