A Promise Of Nothing

SALT - the lead single from Alt-rock band Empire Circus’ upcoming second album “Tí”, was the last song written for the album sessions.

Recorded at Orphan Studios & Hellfire Studios Dublin with Gavin Glass and mixed at Trout Recording Brooklyn by Bryce Goggin, it’s a song full of mature musicianship, sonic depth & heartfelt honesty. 
Think Wilco, Beck, The National, The War on Drugs & even some early Peter Gabriel. This song is Indie Alt-Rock with hints of Singer Songwriter Folk. It will delicately weave it’s way onto your favourite songs playlist.

Empire Circus are a four piece Alt Pop outfit who have tapped into the panache of Two Door Cinema Club, the demeanour of Arcade Fire and the general cool suave of Gorillaz… then morphed out at the other side with a resonant sound under the guise of Empire Circus. 

Having lived and played music full time in the USA together for 7 years, they returned to Ireland in 2008 opened a Music School in South County Dublin - www.puremusic.ie. Then in the spring & summer of 2012 the band spent time writing, demoing and working feverishly on creating music. They wrote some songs. Actually they wrote lots of songs. Some they really enjoyed playing, others... not so much. So they took the fun ones and went to a studio in Brooklyn and crafted an album of 12 tunes that made them want to pull some pretty ridiculous dance moves. This was all done under the influence of Producer/Engineer/Mixer; Bryce Goggin (Ramones, The Morning Glories, Antony and the Johnsons). 

New single “There is a Light” is due for release on June 21st with the album following in September. Empire Circus’ sound is all about the thrill in rhythm and melody. Their debut album, including songs such as “A Day in the Life of a Superhero”, “I Know Better” and “All I Need” will assuredly leave you powerless against the urge to get up, get crazy, dance and sing like you never have before. 

Band statement: The Future (the end is nowhere in sight): We still have dreams of conquering the world and selling the t-shirt, but for now we will be bringing dodgy dance moves and above all, music that electrifies the soul.

Empire Circus’ self-titled debut album is set to make an appearance September 2013. There Is A Light Single is released on June 21st.

EMPIRE CIRCUS are a four piece Alt-rock band from Dublin, Ireland. Their influences range from Wilco, Beck, The National, The War on Drugs to R.E.M. and some early Peter Gabriel.

The band was formed in 2012 by the remaining members of the rock group Stand following their break up in 2010. After 11 years; several of which were spent in New York when the band relocated in 2000, 5 studio albums and thousands of shows between Europe & the US, it was time to call it quits.

Some time was taken to gather thoughts and energies and 2 years later they regrouped with a new drummer and a new vision for the road ahead.

Before long they jumped back into recording and found themselves in the company of Bryce Goggin (Spacehog, Pavement, Joan As Policewoman, Evan Dando, Sean Lennon and more….)

In 2013 they released their self titled debut LP & followed it up with shows from Dublin to New York. Along with promoting the LP the band also released a handful of singles, videos and E.P’s.

As well as writing & recording, the members of Empire Circus also run a music school, PureMusic, in their hometown of Dublin, Ireland.

The band are now preparing to release their second studio album, “Tí” on February 1, 2019. Recorded & mixed between New York & Dublin with producers Bryce Goggin & Gavin Glass (Lisa Hannigan, Young Folk, Villagers and more….), this is Empire Circus most mature and sonically rich album to date. Musically moving & lyrically fresh.
