Following his acclaimed debut on ICONYC in late 2024, Italian producer Daniel Tagliaferri returns to the transatlantic label as Ivory with Want, a four-part suite that deepens his sonic language and sharpens his emotional vocabulary. With a precise command of space, rhythm, and tension, Want feels less like a follow-up and more like a statement of intent, one that situates Ivory among the most sensitive sculptors of the modern dancefloor.

Opening piece "Want You" operates on restraint and release. Beneath a tightly wound rhythmic chassis, Ivory allows elements to breathe: a spectral vocal motif slinks into view, met by tightly coiled bass pressure and gently oscillating synth lines. It's a slow ignition, offering tension without urgency, seduction without sentimentality.

"Like That" pushes further into the shadows, layering intricate percussive work against glowing analog textures. Arpeggios shimmer with a retro-futurist sheen, folding into themselves like fading memories. Ivory's treatment of space here is masterful—both intimate and distant, like hearing a whispered secret across a crowded room.

On "You" we seemingly go down a gear, as bells sway and chords unfurl across a liminal soundscape, offering a moment of introspection. Distant vocal fragments rise through the mist, barely audible yet emotionally insistent. An ambient vignette that hovers somewhere between reverie and farewell.

The final track, "What You Gonna Do", brings us full circle. Anchored by a hypnotic chord progression and a sultry spoken-word refrain, it's a slow-burning closer that coils around the listener with quiet magnetism. The mood is seductive, the structure patient, the emotional weight undeniable.

ICONYC continues its curatorial stride with Unfold, a four-track offering from Cologne-based trio Diode Eins. Including a collaboration with the inimitable Paul Brenning, Unfold tears down walls in favor of raw expression in a state-of-the-art EP that finds Julien Hecker, Jerome Tiaden, and Jannis Klimpel presenting a studied yet emotive exploration of post-club aesthetics, balancing rhythmic heft with experimental nuance.

Biding their time, Diode Eins & Paul Brenning welcome us into "What We Shared" with a boisterous introduction as heavy-handed drumming and winding gears stomp across barren grounds. With tension now settling in, a strobbing low-end pulse takes over, thrusting us down a cavernous spiral as Brenning's stunning vocals cascade around us, lingering in the darkness of our past. Now, tightly wrapped in its allure, we fall deeper inside "What We Shared", offsetting a chain reaction that sees the piece reconfigure itself through a corrosive chemical process for a harrowing contrast in an avant-garde centerpiece.

For our second act, Diode Eins keeps us at the edge of our seats with the ever-shifting "Ain't You". Complex and defiant from the first bar, this creation builds on scattered pieces and left-fielded machinery. Solidifying an intricate framework, the Cologne-based outfit proceeds to deploy a myriad of tantalizing passageways where elements come in and out of frame for a surreal experience. From sultry vocal ad-libs, to angelical swells, and on to razor-sharp alarms and gated pianos, "Ain't You" challenges the finges of club music in a heady and narcotic take on the future. 

This assertive performance continues with "Tambor", where raw energy takes the wheel. Portuguese vocal lines cut through an asymmetrical drum pattern, and a snarling bassline injects urgency into the mix. There's a tension between the human and the machine here, a sense of conflict that plays out across jagged rhythms and looping refrains. In its protest-like momentum, Tambor channels the spirit of resistance via club architecture.

Completing our cinematic dystopian exploration, Diode Eins presents us with the skitterish "Breaking Veils". Delicate, yet granitic, this final cut evokes black holes washing over us as it unfurls over broken shards. Meanwhile, iridescent atmospheres sway and move in mysterious ways before dissipating into the ether as gated vocals step under the limelight. Deeper in our trance, sharp guitar lines draw otherworldly figures in the air, while entropy runs its course, providing a magnificent finale for a record that defies notions with every chord.

Hailing from the ever-vibrant underground of Buenos Aires, DJ, producer, and visual artist Apste makes his debut on ICONYC with 909, a razor-sharp, three-track transmission that blends analog punch with digital poise. With a tactile sense of sound design and an instinct for tension-building, 909 is a record that operates at the intersection of precision and emotion, offering a complex portrait of an artist stretching the edges of club music.

The title track, "909", opens with a sense of architectural restraint as hypnotic synth cascades glide against a grid of steely kicks and needlepoint hi-hats, carving out a minimalist space that pulses with latent energy. APSTE - 909 | ICONYC

ICONYC celebrates its landmark 20th release with a heavyweight offering from none other than Sam Shure, whose Pressure EP brings a searing new edge to the label's evolving identity. Known for his hybrid sound that fuses hypnotic groove with high-impact drama, Shure delivers a powerhouse original, one that's further elevated by an elite roster of remixers including Denis Horvat, Sentin & Mosoo, Dharma, and Anido.

"Pressure" is classic Shure—tightly wound, immersive, and unpredictable. Built on a scaffold of metallic percussion and a serpentine low-end, the track writhes with elastic energy. As the groove deepens, a glowing, neon-hued lead line begins to emerge, dragging us further into its vortex. But it's the mid-section where the track truly flexes its muscles: a stark, breath-holding breakdown carves out negative space like a sculptor, manipulating tension with almost surgical precision. "Pressure" is Sam Shure at its finest; appealingly visceral, yet intriguingly complex.

Our first reinterpretation of "Pressure" comes via Copenhagen-based maverick Denis Horvat. With a more minimalistic approach, his take rides a throbbing bassline across a myriad of gated effects, distorted stabs, and gritty growls for a slow-moving steamroller made for dark rooms and long nights.

Sentin & Mosoo offer a shadowy reinterpretation driven by heavy-duty drum programming. Their version unfolds like a séance, drenched in smoky atmosphere and cloaked in mystery. A slow-burner that expertly bides its time in favor of palpable tension, their re-do adds depth and a hue of the uncharted to "Pressure".

Sunderland-based Dharma injects "Pressure" with kaleidoscopic color, layering broken beats and cinematic synth work. Swells of shimmering vocals and spiraling electronics lend his remix an ethereal lift, illuminating the original's darker tones with new spectral light.

Closing out the package is Anido, the Italian duo known for their left-of-center club weaponry. Their remix takes "Pressure" into wilder terrain, combining sharp-edged stabs, mechanical whirrs, and chopped siren-like motifs. Equal parts twisted and driving, this is 3 A.M. energy distilled into its most volatile form.

Blazing onto ICONYC for its 21st release, Swiss sonic alchemist Shiffer makes a striking debut with the magnetic All I've Been EP. Celebrated for his emotional finesse and innate ability to connect with unexplored corners, Shiffer's latest creation, including a lucious collaboration with Paul Brenning and capped off by Jonathan Kaspar's trademark rework, is a tantalizing suite designed to echo in our timeless halls.
 
The journey begins with Shiffer & Paul Brenning's opening manifesto, "All I've Been", a track that unfurls with both confidence and caution, as if self-aware from its very first beat. Mechanical whirs and fractured frames give way to low-end swells that drive forward with an unrelenting undertow. Brenning's unmistakable vocals start to break a warmer ground as they linger in the liminal space between today and tomorrow before slowly growing in gravitas. Suddenly, the piece begins to contort, drawing spellbinding figures as arresting arrangements and melodic flourishes allow for decompression. Imbued with a tantalizing breakdown that amplifies their exquisite use of negative space, "All I've Been" is a fascinating and intimate take that feels as expansive as it ever could.

ICONYC calls upon Cologne innovator Jonathan Kaspar, who delivers a singular reinterpretation of "All I've Been". Immersed in iridescent textures, Kaspar layers lush, swelling pads over pulsing low frequencies, their ebb and flow punctured by flashes of distortion that spark like electric currents.. Reflective and equally immersive, Jonathan Kaspar's take on "All I've Been" pushes the collaboration into a brash new terrain while retaining the spiritual ethos intact.
 
"Urban Legends", closes the release and takes a bolder stance. Anchored by heavy drum programming that carves its place with deliberate force, the track is haunted by ghostlike vocal fragments that lend an unsettling, cinematic edge.. Out from the left field, Shiffer deploys undulating synthetics that intertwine with consummate ease as they glide under the spotlight. An alluring act that treads unhurried and unconcerned, "Urban Legends" operates at its own pace, far from the demands of a world lost in the metropolitan hustle, allowing us to bask in a lore of things that might or might never have happened.

SHIFFER - All I've Been | ICONYC

Ziger lands back on ICONYC this week with a brand-new single entitled 'Feel the Bass'. The Greek producer continues to be one of the top tier progressive house artists with continued support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, along with releases on Eleatics, Beatfreak, Sudbeat and his own Eat My Hat imprint. 

'Feel The Bass' finds Ziger at his creative best with a driving, hypnotic production that's nicely dialed in or the dance floor. Punchy beats and a full, driving groove anchor the piece, as vibrant tones and spacey effects adorn the framework. The main break hits suddenly and its astral charm quickly saturates your pleasure centers, before melting down to a cavernous reservoir as the beats drop for a storming finale. 

The first remix of 'Feel the Bass' comes courtesy of LA based producer Anakim who returns to the label with a deep melodic remix here. The US artist reshapes the original elements into something deeper and more melodic spacious sounding. The wonk factor on the low end is quite high and monumentally groovy as well, nicely playing off the rolling rhythmic qualities as dulcet hooks and gentle harmonics drift in and out of the framework. The main break shifts the narrative into more emotive territory but the dance floor sensibility remains, with muted beats and percussive clusters building towards a tasteful drop. Superb rework from Anakim. 

The third and final interpretation comes from label debutants Propellar. The Berlin based duo follow excellent releases on MUKKE, Katz & Kauz and Family Piknik with a brilliant interpretation here. Deep, compelling and acutely mysterious, it's deep melodic qualities and richly textured groove make for a lovely first act. As atmospheres evolve, distinctive stabs and vocal edits steal the air, before a one-minute break takes you further into a haze of psychedelic audio, perfectly setting up a groovy finale. A brilliant remix from Propellar that's likely destined for the sets of the big boy brigade. Highly recommended.

Allies & Rafael, who don't need any introduction, treat us with a brand-new track that oozes class and sophistication. 'Hunger' features rich driving textures; as well as euphoric and moody deep house vibes to satisfy ambient, uplifting and feel-good needs, which are the keywords for this beautiful and extraordinary release.

Allies for Everyone & Rafael open proceedings with their smashing original mix. The duo's maturity and musical development is in full swing, as they kick off with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. The hypnotizing groove combined with Allies' smooth vocal work gradually ease their way to the breakdown before all elements combine to be unleashed into a rising melodic hook, intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect.

Indian maestro Browncoat's interpretation opens proceedings on the remix front; he hits all the right chords from the word go. Known for his distinct and quality driven production style, Browncoat's deep entry is intermixing with glowing drive, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement, with the understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. He manages to keep the energy up, while allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser. Essential stuff!

The second remix comes from label debutant Th3 Oth3r. The Spanish' producers sound is a tough thing to pin down. He is such a unique act in the sense that his emotional creations carry quite a large scope. Th3 Oth3r is not afraid to explore esoteric or introspective themes and the end result is always a compelling one. Such is the case with his remix of 'Hunger', which carries many of his most loved production hallmarks. From a warm, meaty low end to icy atmospherics and an effects storyboard to get lost in, there is certainly a lot to love. The main break being the high point, with the mood shifting from emotive to ominous with an effortless ease. It's something you rarely see and he pulled off beautifully here.

Allies for Everyone & Rafael Cerato's return to ICONYC, with two amazing remixes from Browncoat & Th3 Oth3r, is a triumphant one. 'Hunger' manages to deliver a message of sustained musical relevance in emphatic fashion to warm the soul. 'Hunger' sees a worldwide release on September 9th, 2022 via all well-known digital content providers. Not to be missed!

As we break into the dawn of a new cycle, ICONYC's latest anthology of tracks blossoms forth into the light with the second installment of the 'Florilegia' series. The first seed on our compilation is planted by Vomee's 'You Are Not There', a restless act where vocal flourishes come alive in technicolor as they blaze across a thunderous creation for a soaring opening. In our second act, Enes Çakır & Yost Koen keep the energy flowing through the veins with a mechanical frame, razor-sharp stabs, and bending synthetics as the pair come together to generate some unstoppable momentum in 'Two of Us'.  For our third stop on the compilation, we uncover Odeon's 'Used to Say', which takes us deep inside a broken frame and lush vocal dashes soaked in a dazzling narrative bound to etch its way into our memory forever. Wasting no bar, our latest entry makes the most out of its design by kicking off with, 'Wanna Know', as Momery set the tone in truly ICONYC fashion. The pair deploy thumping kicks and a pulsating jet-back bassline, terraforming the bedrock for an all-out assault on the senses. As seconds pass, echoing vocals dance, twisting and turning, contorting in arresting shapes while they take our breath away, cleverly intertwining with gated synths providing the ultimate pleasure release.

Led by an instantly recognizable vocal, the austro-swedish project's tantalizing piece has enthralled dancefloors and festivals worldwide for months, and now, we're excited to give it the remix treatment as it goes under the surgical vision of Prague-based maestro Spada, Dutch alchemist Volar, and Irish provocateur Olive Hatake, plus an exclusive "Piano Version" by famed Italian concert pianist Luigi R. Gargano. 

On our first remix, Spada steps up to the plate with a gorgeous percussive foundation that sets a most flavorful mood before meandering flanger squelches uncover a warm bassline that gently invites us deeper inside this lush take on "Ordinary Things". Smoldering yet restrained, Spada's velvet-laced reinterpretation suddenly reveals a tantalizing break in the clouds as every element converges into the void, exploding in a splendid genesis of a third act where icy arpeggios intertwine, traversing endlessly across the piece in an unrepeatable sliver of bliss.

Roberto Traista is been causing quite a stir with his melodic influenced driving progressive house productions. He has seen his works released on labels like PHW Elements, Hydrogen and Clinique amongst others, and has gathered massive support from the world’s finest.

With his return to ICONYC after his huge successful Air EP, Roberto turns it up a notch and shows maturity and musical development, as we kick off with the deep, hypnotic warm melodic layers of ‘Broken Promises’, interspersed with subtle effective percussion while the drop is a glowing bucket of emotions. Roberto manages to keep the energy up, subtlety allowing the driving house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape.

Next up we have 'Dark Anger' which opens with stunningly textured deep pads that warm the soul before a strong melodic infused bassline provides the base for this inspired piece to play out in delayed glory. Intermittent drums and soft soaked percussions in reverb come together to create a structured sphere of sonic geniality. Essential stuff!

We welcome back Sean & Dee to the label with their new single 'Sea Turtle' featuring remixes from Andy King and Mila Journée. 

The plucky Italian duo had a great 2019 with tracks signed to Outta Limits and Natura Viva among others and struck gold with a Beatport top 10 for FSOE UV. Their single-minded dedication to progressive music is also winning them many high-profile fans, and we very much expect their sonic journey to take a massive upswing this year. 

'Sea Turtle' is essential dancefloor weaponry. Upbeat and musical, the thundering kicks ushering in a mammoth tune. With bass fully engaged, the sonics begin; twisted sweeps, an epic pad and rhythm line, and later, acid, all working together to create a warm and inviting playground in your mind. Andy King opts for a deeper rendition, cooling down the originals epic overtones and focusing on the emotional content for those earlier warm up moments. While MIla Journée strips the original right back and recreates a chugging tribal prog remix that grows into an epic masterpiece.
