A new signee to Infinite Machine, Bonebrokk’s The Astral Catalyst EP marks his first official release for the Athens-based producer outside of his Trial & Error imprint. Influenced by late capitalism and sci-fi dystopias, across two productions Bonebrokk deftly showcases his ‘ExoPunk’ sound; a retrofuturist mix of broken beats from the continuum blended with meticulous, future-facing sound design. Long-standing IM alumni Galtier as well as techno giant Surgeon round off the release with two blistering remixes of Bonebrokk’s originals.

The Astral Catalyst opens with the EP’s eponymous track - an heady dose of industrial percussion and low-end bassweight that could easily shake the paint off a club’s walls. Amongst these dense layers of clattering percussion and dread-laiden bass lines, Bonebrokk weaves in haunting cycles of noisy feedback - a dissonant ghost in the machine.

The following track, Hyperparadox, eases up on the bass somewhat but goes big on the breaks. The track’s mid-range groans and samples that seem to squelch like shoes hitting mud gives Hyperparadox an almost tactile and material nature; as if you could physically sink your teeth into Bonebrokk’s rich arrangement here.

First up on remix duties; UK dance music giant Surgeon reworks The Astral Catalyst into a 3am fever dream, taking Bonebrokk’s original into a more functional techno direction. Surgeon applies a heavy, groove-laden drum pattern to the track whilst still keeping its unnerving mood and white noise-rich environment of The Astral Catalyst very much intact.

Closing off the EP, Galtier reworks Hyperparadox by stripping back some of the layers of samples but ramping up the tension with the elements he leaves in the mix. A great prelude to a bigger body of work by Galtier that Infinite Machine will be releasing soon.

A wild blend of dubstep and breakbeats that could easily re-soundtrack a nightclub scene from The Matrix, this might be the first but it’s certainly not the last time you’ll be hearing Bonebrokk’s unique sound

For the next release on Early Reflex we welcome Frankfurt-based producer and composer Lorica (formerly known as Avbvrn), following his debut EP on Display and a split on Destitute.

Lorica filters a surgical attention to detail and sound design through a wide-scope approach to atmosphere and the spatial qualities of music. The resulting work conjures up dramatic, vivid, and tactile sonic landscapes that recall classical forms and techniques, while drawing upon contemporary textures and approaches to rhythm and memory.
Inspired by renaissance arts and their creative process ‘Adaptive Radiation’ [EYX005] stretches further Lorica’s experimental and oblique musical approach to the club-focused context of Early Reflex. The result is a 5-track EP blending cinematic sound design with traces of dubstep, drill, dancehall, trap, and more which is going to hit the listeners both physically and emotionally!

The opener ‘Baikal Rediscovered’ is a great example of Lorica’s production style where the composer blends together orchestral and atmospheric pads with incessant grimey beats and a deep bass-line making it a suitable tool for the club.
A storm of otherworldly sounds in contrast with its trapp inspired rhythmic session protrude in ‘Ochre Skeleton’ originating a surrealistic and peculiar atmosphere.
Approaching the end of the first half of the EP there is ‘Petrified Butterfly’, a dreamy and spooky interlude where synthesised flute melodies, fast-paced percussions and effected field recordings repeat and alternate themselves continuously while evolving every time differently in a never-ending loop until every sound dissolves in empty reverberated spaces.
Entering the second half of the release, listeners get hit by the drilling kick drum and the twisting sound design of ‘Sodiumglanz’, which lead to the closure of the EP.
In ‘Breccia’ Lorica explores further his blend of cinematic effects with the pronounced attitude for the club, delivering a track characterised by pitch-shifting electronic percussions and the harmonic progression of orchestrated instruments and strings.

‘Adaptive Radiation’ is available across all platforms starting from Friday 5th of November.

East London’s most forward-thinking record label is soon to release Nervous Horizon Vol. 4, the latest addition to their notorious various artists compilation series.
Known for bringing together regional club sounds from all around the world, this time label heads TSVI & Wallwork focus on dancehall influenced instrumentals but also throw fast paced percussive club works in the mix.
Nervous Horizon’s core members DJ Plead, Ehua, DJ JM, SIM & Seven Orbits are all back with killer dubs and Vol. 4 also sees the introduction of some brand new signees: Montreal based Mexican producer Ultima Esuna, Bristol’s rising star Josi Devil and congolese Nyege Nyege affiliate Chrisman. Techno prodigies Happa and Aquarian make their debut appearance on the label as well with compositions that blend intricate sound design with explosive low end.
Opening at 90 BPM and ending at nearly 160BPM, Nervous Horizon Vol. 4 is definitely going to be one of the most effective tools on the dance floor this season!

Bringing us to our twentieth release we have an NHS newcomer with their first ever EP, named Yotah, Offering up four tracks that teeter on the fringes of chunky maximalism and intricate, evolving modulation. ‘Rewiring’ is an exploration of hybridized and amorphous sonics into recognizable patterns, only to break through this consolidation (so evidently true to our nature) to peer into the unknown that lurks on the other side.

Such a notion is further established through the creative process that Yves pursued to develop his first body of work; learning and unlearning various styles of music to be left with a semblance of what was. His sound, not yet fully established as he humbly states, is always a vestige of the past, whispers of a previous set of patterns he has reinterpreted and rewired in his own mind.

The latest volley from @high_digital's inner sanctum comes courtesy of Egyptian producer @assyouti. 

Drawing upon Cairo’s feverish energy, ‘Shakhrama’ is a violent distillation of rhythmic ingenuity and squashed, caustic bass. It’s overdriven and precision-tooled; each track a stampeding onslaught more devastating than the last.

Presenting the title track, today’s premiere evokes his hometown’s noise polluted landscape with some rapid-fire rudeness. A deadly fusion of mutant bass ballistics and hi-NRG club deconstruction.
