People Like People Like Them is the first single to be released by Halifax-based Post-Rock standout, Last Of Eden.

The track aims to capture the desperation, futility and shift in hope and power felt by anyone driven to despair at the state of the world. It aims to provide a reminder that by standing together we can overcome. We don’t have to take this anymore.

The words that resonate over the music are still as pertinent and relevant today as they ever were. They shine a light on how society exploits disaster, pain and conflict to turn a profit. It shows how far we still have to come as a society and how unjust the world still is.

The world is a scary place but we have a voice - we can stand up and we can be heard. No longer do we have to settle for the mundane. We shall not be overlooked and we will fight for our voices to be heard. 
The song title is inspired by a belief that we are unified and connected by shared greatness and that together we are strong.

You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down is a story of triumph and courage. It speaks of standing up and being counted. It is a march towards glory.

Our minds can be a very desolate landscape. Painting pictures of battlefields, littered with versions of ourselves that we’ve lost to our own monologue of doubt and self destruction.    

You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down builds the strength and determination to find that power within us, and to be at peace with who we are.

To carry on, to pick ourselves up and to continue to put one foot in front of the other.

You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down features an unknown speaker reciting Rudyard Kiplings, ‘If’, as a triumphant reminder that we shall not be defeated and we shall continue forward in to greatness again.

If They Only Knew

If They Only Knew is a monologue about the battles we face within ourselves. The song aims to remind us that on the surface we show an image of ourselves to the world that does not reflect our true feelings and our purpose. 

Looking in the mirror, we see only a fraction of who we are but if we were able to see beyond the exterior, we find the beauty of our spirit. We are each made of hope and in when facing struggles we often lose sight of who we are. Lost in pain, grief and suffering but what we choose to project outwards towards the world is only skin deep and beneath it lies power, courage and determination. 

  If They Only Knew marries poignantly with our own shared experiences as a band. We face our own struggles with health and It became abundantly clear that we could only see a fraction of the turmoil, a snapshot of the real struggles beyond the cracked exterior.

Sunset Silhouette

Sunset Silhouette looks to the horizon for the dawn of new beginnings. The song was written at our first reunion after 3 long months of solitude following the first Covid lockdowns in the U.K.

It was the first time we had graced a room together again as friends and as a band eager to make music again. Our rehearsal studio was filled with uncertainty, excitement and tentativeness. We tried to translate the emotion we all felt in that room in to delicate melodies and excitable piano lines.

The writing of this song was an outpouring of gratitude and comfort in being back in each others company. It was an organic process and a cleansing of the mind to finally play music together again.

Sunset Silhouette features speech from US Vice President (1969-1973) Spiro Agnew who talks of the American venture in to Vietnam. Much like the speech embodies a cautious message of the journey ahead, Sunset Silhouette tries to capture that voyage from solitude and embrace being together once again.

All That Glitters Is Not Gold is a song that tries to speak of the wonders and horrors that take place upon our planet. The song was intended as a reminder that if you scratch the surface, everything is not always as it seems. Pull back the veil and peer behind the curtain and you will find the true beauty of humanity. The kindness of human connection, the power of love and the joy of shared experiences.

Living in a world where we face the painful juxtaposition of wealth and poverty in every walk of life, it reminds us - All that we touch does not bring hope, all that we speak does not bring wisdom and All That Glitters Is Not Gold.

This song illuminates the obvious narrative of disparity between us but it invites you to look deeper for the greatness in human kind.

1001 is a song that was born from a conversation between Josh (guitar player) and Ben (bass player). The two spoke about personal struggles with anxiety, health and mood which evolved in to a deep exploration about finding solace in music, both writing and listening.

The two wanted to help shape a song that represented hope and gave life to the listener. A song that brought comfort and strength to anyone who came across it by knowing that they are not alone and that together they can overcome any struggle that life may bring.

The song bares many symbolisms to a journey of self discovery and empowerment. The music was crafted together by the four of us in our rehearsal studio tucked away in the small town of Halifax (UK). The drums were a topic of heated debate and contention that led to a decision that a persistent and pulsing heartbeat throughout the entire track would give the sense of a real and tangible life, breathing energy into the listener.

The song title was taken from a concept that the number 1001 has no beginning and no end and may continue and reoccur endlessly. It helped shape the premise that the song would begin and end on the same continuing bass and guitar line as if it could repeat itself forever much as life can feel like it does.

1001 gave us the opportunity to explore the rise and fall in the dynamics of the music that are similar to the peaks and troughs of falling on hard times and finding the strength to overcome and persevere though any struggles someone may face. We wanted to create a reminder that you are not alone no matter where you find yourself in life. That we are all at different stages of our own journeys but you can find a way to connect and find comfort together.

The speech samples were taken from NASA mission control excepts which emanate the essence of voyage and discovery and embody the limits of exploration and the heights we can push ourselves to as humans. The radio transmissions were decided to be left purposefully indistinct so as to invoke the mystery of exploration and allow anyone to apply their own meaning to the journey.

Secret Societies Rule The World is our dystopian look at how the global elite control our societies.   The establishments are shrouded in secrecy and corruption is a worldwide machine that continues to be fed by mainstream media propaganda.   Secret societies seem to rule the world and the news outlets only serve to fuel an already biased narrative in favour of the super rich. Lies & distrust are amplified and spread until they plant roots that divide us all.

Secret Societies Rule The World was inspired by a powerful feeling of unease at our current state of global affairs and the misinformation that is fed to us by news sources. We wanted to create a soundtrack for our frustrations and despair at the inequality and injustice that we all face. 

This song was initially inspired by classical orchestration and film scores. It is incredibly powerful how classical compositions can underpin a narrative and create such dramatic emphasis.   Secret Societies Rule The World began its life as a string and piano piece that paired perfectly with John F Kennedy’s powerful address to the American Society Of Newspaper Editors in 1961. The full band instrumentation aims to capture the frustration and aggression that built at the growing disparity amongst us all.

L.O.E’s music tries to capture and reflect triumph, heroism, anguish and struggle throughout society. Not as a political stand, but to hold a mirror up to humanity. Weaving speech and video in to live performance to create a cinematic experience of popular culture and a reflection of our times.

Ahead of their new single release on June 24, the Post-Rock quartet is set for a headlining single launch show with FORT as support act, on June 11 at Archway in Halifax, and they will be supporting Alex Henry Foster & The Long Shadows in Huddersfield, on June 24 at The Parish & Manchester, on June 25 at Deaf Institute.

It's times like this that we need to be reminded that we can face adversity and we can overcome it. Winston Churchill rallied this country with his infamous speech and empowered our grandparents & great grandparents to triumph over foes. This could truly be our finest hour.

Once And For All - is the second single from LØE taken from their debut self titled EP.

United States of America, 1968 - A year of unease. A prolific human rights campaigner assassinated. The streets brimmed with protest and violence. Tensions spilled in to police brutality. 
 
The single is inspired by civil unrest and public outrage, motifs that are echoed throughout popular culture and still resonate today. 
 
Once And For All hopes to capture and hold up a snapshot of the frustration and anger felt by protestors who faced police violence during the 1968 Democratic Convention. 
 
The then mayor Richard Daley, who is sampled on the track, attempted to explain the escalation of violence made by the Chicago Police Department and Military Police against members of the public. “Gentlemen get the thing straight, once and for all”.

People Have The Power - is the debut single from LØE and the first single to be released as a digital download  ahead of their upcoming EP. 

On December 8th, 1980, John Lennon was taken from this world. The single is released on this day to pay homage to him and honour his work for peace. 

  People Have The Power features John Lennon describing his belief that people have all the power to make a change - they need only be reminded that they have that power.

  In a world where inequality still exists, corporations and governments still profit from war, a climate crisis is upon us, a world where more people than ever are divided by politics, where social status dictates success and the streets still brim with protest, John Lennon’s words are more relevant today than ever before. 

  John Lennon stood for peace, he started a non violent movement to encourage people to protest against war and asked the world for peace. His bed protest first took place in 1969 - 50 years later his voice still needs to be heard.  

This single, People Have The Power, aims to capture John’s spirit and pay homage to his ideology at a time when the world needs to feel united again.

L.O.E’s music tries to capture and reflect triumph, victory, heroism, anguish and struggle throughout society. Not as a political stand, but to hold a mirror up to humanity.
