We welcome Subcora for the eighty-eighth edition of the 'Deep In Mix' series.

In the ever-evolving electronic music landscape, Subcora stands out as a DJ who masterfully blends her cultural heritage with contemporary sounds. Originally from Istanbul, Türkiye, she has spent the last seven years rooted in Liverpool, UK. Subcora's journey into DJing began organically from her role as a music selector. It wasn't until her time in Berlin in 2016 that she delved into the technical side of DJing, a pivotal moment that set the stage for her subsequent success. Upon moving to Liverpool in 2017, she swiftly became a fixture in the local music scene, broadcasting her eclectic radio shows on the former local online radio station, Melodic Distraction.

Her sets take audiences on a journey through various genres, showcasing her deep musical understanding and ability to captivate a crowd. While she often ignites the dancefloor with house music during shorter sets, it's in her extended five to six-hour performances where her true artistry shines. These marathon sessions see her exploring breakbeat influences, embracing old-school club sounds, and seamlessly blending melodic house with electronica, creating a nostalgic yet fresh experience for her listeners. Subcora draws inspiration from various musical influences, ranging from house producers to 70s rock bands. She particularly admires electronic music maestro Four Tet and the innovative Nightmares on Wax. Aspiring to match the charismatic energy of Fatboy Slim, Subcora strives to infuse the same vibrant dynamism into her performances.

Her performances include appearances at prestigious festivals like Afrikaburn and the Liverpool International Music Festival, as well as renowned venues such as Egg London and Invisible Wind Factory. As a resident DJ at establishments like Buyers Club and Futureyard, and with regular gigs at Kazimier Garden, Subcora continues to push the boundaries of her craft. Her participation in the Africa Oye festival, the UK's largest free celebration of African music and culture, further underscores her commitment to embracing diverse musical expressions. She curates this mix blending melodic house with a hint of breakbeat and elements of electronica, all woven together to evoke a nostalgic atmosphere. Enjoy the mix!
