Granular Foley

A one take recording of a live, improvised solo piece performed on the Seaboard by Heen - no overdubs. This piece showcases the polyphonic-pitch bend and polyphonic continuous-touch expression through a multi-layered sound. 

Using the Seaboard as a controller in film music composition, you could easily record a complex and expressive theme in a live take on the Seaboard, without the need for overdubbing or further editing in the DAW.

Tears in the Rain

On May 22nd, ROLI showcased a Seaboard ensemble at Abbey Road Studios, featuring legendary keyboardist Jordan Rudess, accompanied by Marco Parisi and Heen-Wah Wai, and Ray Hearne at the drums. 
The song was composed for ROLI by Nathan Stornetta and Jordan Rudess. It is named after bass player extraordinaire Tony Levin, for its incredible bass and synth sounds.

Check out Purps’s “Roliery”, created with his Seaboard GRAND.

Purps is a multifaceted artist, producer, and member of the acclaimed production team, 808 Mafia. He has developed a devout following of beatmakers and rap lovers and by producing Wiz Khalifa’s “Incense”, Kid Ink’s “Top of the World”, Gucci Mane’s “Breakfast”, and more. 

Purps’s other credits include work with Jamie Foxx, Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chainz, as well as French Montana, and he has also created in rock and dance styles. While he may be best known for his unique “California trap” sound, he continues to push boundaries and evolve, going beyond the typical dimensions of hip hop.
