Irish electro producing artist DeFeKT will supply the second Electronic Explorations 12″ release.

Electronic Explorations went from widely respected podcast to fledgling label in quite distinctive fashion last year, releasing an epic 61 track digital compilation canvassing electronic music which featured unreleased material from an impressive range of artists including AnD, Kowton, Old Apparatus, and Perc. Four of the contributions from that compilation by Δkkord, Kahn, Milanese and Ruckspin were subsequently included on the maiden Electronic Explorations vinyl release EE:V:001.

With Electronic Explorations founder Rob Booth fully engaged on A&R duties at Houndstooth, the label aspect has taken something of a back seat this year, though news has now arrived of their second 12″ release.

Whilst the first EE 12″ traversed the 130BPM plus bassier end of the spectrum, the label’s second vinyl release turns to electro with a four track EP from Dublin-based producer DeFeKT, who appeared on the aforementioned Electronic Explorations compilation with “Sunseq”. DeFeKT’s Transmuter EP will be Electronic Explorations first solo artist record, which follows the Irishman’s Switch EP released earlier this year on the Signal Code imprint, and his contribution to a Cultivated Electronics sampler which saw DeFeKT collaborate with Sync 24, alongside other productions from Gosub, Versalife and the ever-prolific Tadd Mullinix as J.T.C.

Early support from Surgeon, Dave Clarke, Truss, Perc, Radioactiveman, Oliver Ho, Pip Williams, Skudge and many more.

Andrey VVVVV is a Chelyabinsk based DJ and co-founder of the FORMA promo group. The team regularly arranges parties in their hometown and invites artists from the capital. The team recently visited Moscow and St. Petersburg with showcases.
 In Chelyabinsk, Andrey plays in small bars and at his own parties, which FORMA arranges in the main underground club of the city, the RMC.
For our podcast VVVVV prepared a mix of various genres  slowly rising from dark 115 ebm tracks to intense hard techno and rave sound at 160 bpm. Enjoy!

For Patrice Baumel, 2016 feels like the culmination of many years travelling the road, working hard, having fun and spreading love. German-born, Amsterdam-based Patrice is currently busy in the studio creating a musical soundscape, having been selected by the critically acclaimed Balance compilation series to mix the next instalment.

Donato Dozzy, well renowned for his talent with the deeper end of techno, and fellow Italian DJ Say, whose self-proclaimed style is "electronic ritual dance," team up here for the first time since 2006 and the electro-tinged darkness of Polarity on Mental Groove. This EP is a smoother Dozzy-esque affair, delivering textured, hypnotic and high-quality ambient techno. 

The premise is set out in the first few seconds of "Your Eyes." Sub bass throbs, hi-hats crackle and a pad builds, suspended in religious penitence before the kick comes in, offset by half a beat against the waves that have built up. A lone monk chants something indecipherable in quiet warning, and more and more elements build on top of each other. It's constantly evolving, ebbing and flowing with both ambience and constant, pointillistic punctuation in the form of crisp, high treble percussion and soft, submerged zap FX. 

"Transparent" is more immediate, with more above ground. Not that far above, though. Alien helicopter effects circle, echoing and whirring, as a churning beat rolls throughout. Harmonies are included more overtly as a pad gives the closest thing here to a chord sequence, gazing out emotively with far sight. The same progressive evolution and thick liquidity carries it through without being jarred by sharp changes. Two excellent tracks to soothe and escape with.
