London-based promoter WarmLab unveils their future plans which include the fourth Bandcamp release of their label AFÀN.

In the near past and before lockdown, the collective has hosted a number of showcases in the UK inviting many Romanian and international artists to intimate venues around the capital. In particular, one of the last just before the lockdown was TRIPL3ONE Edition in January 2020 and saw Mihigh as headliner during a mammoth 25-hour event between StarLane Pizza Bar and Shoreditch Platform. This was followed by the WarmLab x UVAR showcase inside The Cause cage for Syzygy on 28th February 2020 with Cosmjn & Lizz, Alex Font, and Nils Weimann plus the after in collaboration with Nils' imprint Subtil which featured Olivian Nour as a secret guest. Now in its second decade, with a steady stream of the most forward thinking and cutting edge techno productions, Drumcode has one of the biggest selections of releases from industry heavy hitters, whilst not forgetting its future by bringing the newest talented producers into the limelight, where Layton Giordani is now a name firmly within that line up.

The New York born, but now EU based producer first had recognition back in 2014, and his debut release came via Drumcode with his track “Rivington” on the A-Sides Vol5 compilation in 2016. 

Consisting of 12 original tracks, the album packs a punch when it comes to no-nonsense techno. Successfully weaving relentless drums and catchy vocal hooks into a selection of thick, brooding, atmospheric tracks.

Nastia Reigel is the latest artist to join the impressive roster from Dustin Zahn’s Enemy Records. ‘Trust, Intimacy’ is as dark as it is poetic, delivering a perfect take on contemporary techno.

‘Trust, Intimacy’ fuses her top tier production skills with her own vocals for a unique and introspective four tracker. ‘Nachalo’ is the perfect intro track while the title track and ‘Transformed’ are destined for peak time madness. The EP closes with the most emotional moment of the EP, Acceptance…an ideal closing track that could just as easily lead the entire single.

Up next on Wolfskuil Records and as the title suggests we find some of Shlømo’s finest cuts on the Dutch imprint reworked by Oscar Mulero, Johannes Heil and Tripeo. 

Spanish techno master Oscar Mulero takes over the A-side, keeps the heat of the original and adds extra tension to offer a stand out rendition of ‘Obsession’, while in ‘Vanished Breath’ he goes deep and delivers fine electronica and a sophisticated, experimental remix where broken beats and haunting synths seamlessly blend to create ghostly atmospheres.

On the flip side Johannes Heil transforms the beatless, synth-heavy beauty ‘M.U.M.’ into an euphoric, driving techno track, right before Tripeo proves ones again his strong command on the dancefloor with a solid, twisted version of ‘Avadon Part 1’.

Dynamic Ukrainian producer Yan Cook makes his debut on Soma Records with the Wide Angle EP. Active on the scene for some time now and releasing on a number of top flight labels, Yan delivers a devastating 4 track EP, chalked full of his distinctive sound. 

The ominous title Wide Angle kicks things off with thumping and tripped out low end and doesnt hold back, firing straight out of the block with rapid percussion and twisted synth elements. Krater keeps up the pace with a more rolling and hypnotic feel; crushing rhythmic elements has Yan on full attack mode with this track. Blacklisted keeps up the aggressive vibes with sinister tones, growling basslines and yet more jarring and propulsive rhythms. Closing out with Red Stream, Yan continues with the malevolent vibes as dark and forbidding tones permeate throughout this perfectly crafted tool.

Yan Cook is yet another welcome addition to the ever growing roster of high quality talent on Soma.
