The South London based Church imprint continue their output of quality house and techno music with the next instalment of their white label series from neighbour Laurence Guy. According to his bio, Laurence was “raised by strippers in the dressing room of a Chicago lapdancing club with only a stack of Prince records for company.” While we can’t confirm that, the maker of punchy house music has certainly got our attention. Taken from his upcoming EP of the same name, i-D exclusively share Kojak. The smooth summertime jam eases you in with the gentlest of percussion, synth whirs and chimes, before drums and blissfully distorted bass holds your hand all the way to groove town. Press play.

Premiere: Carlo - Kynf (Good Ratio Music)

Secretsundaze 18th transmission comes with love from Bristol based artist and newcomer Shanti Celeste. With just a few releases under her belt on the likes of Julio Bashmore's Broadwalk, her own label BRSTL and Idle Hands (the infamous Bristol shop where she also man's the counter a few days a week) she has been quick to impress. She played secretsundaze earlier in 2015 and will play our birthday party in just a few weeks and is a fine DJ with great selection and skills. She recently played back to back with Julio Bashmore on Boiler Room. Her monthly show on NTS Radio has been building nicely so we thought it only right to invite her to do her first 12' for us. This will also be her first release on a non Bristol based label so a coup for secretsundaze we think.

A.1 'Golden' is a hypnotic, bouncy house groove that doesn't stick the regular 90's house template with some great synth action and manages to be both wistful and and bumpin at the same time. 'Nu4him' is a stunning, moody track with lush chords and Shanti's own vocal refrains. 'Golden dub' breaks it down for a more experimental techno excursion eschewing some of the melodic flourishes of its counterpart with heavy kick, 808's and some detroity vibes. Final cut 'Sun' starts off all ambient and atmospheric later picking up the pace with some more stomping electro influences.

secretsundaze has been on a great run of late with Endian's 'Finish Me' featured on the likes on Joy Orbison and Scuba's Radio 1's Essential mixes and 'SS1' on Nick Hoppner's well received Resident Advisor Podcast. Shanti Celeste one of 2015's breakthrough artists continues in that veign with 'Alma.'

Mat Chiavaroli, one of your main artists who is getting stronger and stronger, opens this jubilee release with upbuilding powerful tune, just the tune the get Quintessentials 50 started! Great to see profilic dutch producer Nachtbraker (Heist, Quartet Series) on the label too. We love his style and he will soon be as popular as Ajax Amsterdam! His subtle and dirty “Bronco” fits in perfectly. The definitive club tune that grooves and grooves and grooves comes from Ponty Mython (Dirt Crew). Alexandr is a cool guy and this is defo a cool tune. Last but not least is Soul of Hex (Freerange, Vicario). Our mexican friend is going very raw this time. Yes, why not call it electronic body music (remember?)! As we are gentlemen, we added a Quintessentials sticker in the vinyl edition. Go and get it!

PREMIERE: T.U.R.F. - Bring Me Down [Exploited Records]

The second and title track “Realised You Shine” is an engaging structured beat filled with smooth, deep chords while “Third Rhythm” serenades the listener with its retro melodies and charming saxophone line. 
The last track, “Warm Pattern”, is built with soft acidic lines that affixes the listener into a smooth warp and perfectly completes the 4 track EP, bringing it together as one collective piece.

The whole EP certainly appeals to listeners outside and inside the dance music sphere, crossing the boundaries of musical genres to pleasure an array of ears.
