BLOCKLAB is a duo of experienced producers from Krasnoyarsk, Vasily aka WASTA and Stas aka Sector.13. The guys joined forces in the fall of 2022 and have already gained recognition from genre enthusiasts worldwide. They have previously released on the acclaimed UK label White Peach, creating a solid following of club & sound system DJ's, radio hosts and fans

BLOCKLAB's concept, both as a project and in their compositions, lies in the idea that a single track explores entirely different moods, unfolding like a short film over 3-4 minutes. I’m excited to share my very first track on SoundCloud! This remix is a special one: it was created as part of a music production challenge with friends, where we looked at creating a remix of a pre-1990s track from Africa.

For this challenge, I chose Michel Legris’s iconic "Elida", a track that’s close to my heart as it hails from my homeland Mauritius. "Elida" is steeped in the rhythms of Sega music, a genre that captures the vibrant spirit of Mauritian culture and history.

In my remix, I’ve infused "Elida" with modern electronic beats, keeping its soulful Sega roots alive while giving it a contemporary twist. The result is a lively blend that celebrates heritage and innovation, inviting listeners to explore the dancefloor in a whole new way.

In the past few years, Buenos Aires-born DJ LOUI has been (not so) quietly turning into one of the most exciting tastemakers in the European underground club music circuit, be it as a curator of breathtaking Meta Rave line ups or when releasing music through his label Jupiter4.
