The 90’s rave scene embodied a sense of freedom, defiance, energy, and diversity. Konvic’s track, ‘Dove Days’ celebrated that with a hard techno edge and spoken vocals by DeepDownDirty label boss and founder Maya Stone.

Fast forward seven years from the release of ‘Dove Days’ (and as DeepDownDirty fast approaches its tenth year of existence) and Konvic has put together a full album’s worth of eclectic new music to complement the original track, bringing it bang up-to-date with hiphop-edged techno in ‘Escape Key’ featuring Melee; a drum and bass duo of tracks in ‘We Need Love' & ‘Aura’, which both feature TiaSun; and 'Gaia’, with its hard neuro-influenced riff.

Amongst the techno you can also find the bouncy ‘Moroccon Nights’, with its North African-influenced vibe; an acid techno collaboration with Alf E James, ‘Rhythm is in my Mind’; the pulsating groove of ‘Dance’, the third track to feature TiaSun; the vibrant chords of ‘Keep Walking By’; the underground feel of ‘Exit Light'; and the subversive ‘Don’t Be Afraid’, a collaboration with Coqui.

This is music that celebrates the liberating, hedonistic 90’s rave scene with a futuristic edge. Its euphoric, rebellious and wild. It embodies great dance music in its all its glorious variety across the eleven tracks. As Maya says on ‘Dove Days’, “It didn’t matter who you were or what you did, we were united by the music,”.

'Dove Days’ the LP stands as a reminder and testament of how true that still is.

Data 3 are a Drum and Bass trio hailing from the West Yorkshire Dales. The trio consists of Bryson (Pola & Bryson), Dubstep producer Syrum, and Garage DJ - M.ID.A.

2016 has been an exciting year for the act with releases on Soul Trader, Addictive Behaviour and SkankandBass, amongst others. Their music has won support from the likes of Friction, Mistajam and Calyx & Teebee.

Data 3 also enjoyed their first festival season this year with sets at Kendal Calling, Bearded Theory, Bestival, Reading and Glastonbury.

Demand in the past has always focused on newcomers and bringing them up to the forefront. We try to find people that endeavour originality with the focus on the dancefloor and after 6 years that is still the labels ethos. Last year we brought up new names like "SubMarine", "Andy Pain" or "Owneath" all with their own sound... and there is no stopping in this really in 2017 with our fifth Selects EP. 
With the Bristol based talent "Grey Code", Austrian "Wingz" and "Skylark" from Strasbourg we welcome 3 new names, you've probably not heard of yet, to the Demand family. 
Grey Code starts off with "Making Marks" and oh boy does it deliver. That stomping heavy kick and the dark movement in the bassline, no wonder this has already received love by Noisia. Another track championed by said Dutch boys is Wingz "Confined". It is minimal, clicky and sub bass focused and rolls so well, one could listen to this on repeat. 
"Echelon" by Grey Code & Skylark on the other hand very different. It's what we'd call techy d&b in it's cleanest and purest form. We love how the bassline morphs through this track and it's attention to detail! Last but not least we welcome back Owneath with a "Thousand Suns". He's a master of the brooding, minimal, progressive sound. Every phrase is different even tho you have to listen closely to hear it. We're excited about these guys and hope you're too!

Grey Code - Making Marks

We've got a bumper Premiere today as we present the first Soundcloud clips of the brand new EP from Brakken for Tech Itch Recordings! Currently shrouded in mystery all we know about Brakken so far is that he is a old warrior of the scene operating under a new identity; doubtless time will reveal the artist's former aliases, but for now all we have is the beats.

Said beats are impressive indeed and fans of the dark-edged techstep sound will definitely find plenty to enjoy here; from the deep, rolling reese bass of 'Shadow Art' through the industrial-tinged halftime of 'In My Room', out into the 90s style 'headz-y vibes of 'Shaper Scratch' and finishing up with moody stepper 'Let Go', this is clearly the work of an artist with deep roots in the scene and plenty of ideas to explore. Sick stuff!

A label born out of both Berlin and Bergamo in Italy, Delta9Recordings has been able to tap into a host of influences since they first began releasing music. Focusing primarily on the dark, minimalistic and techstep sounds, they’ve acquired a vast back catalogue to help platform these tastes. And Delta9Recordings have ensured that the artists they’ve helped to bring through, from across Europe, also encapsulate the same stylistic features. This can be seen throughout their forthcoming ‘No Data’ EP from drum & bass producer Kutlo, which adds a welcome addition to their back catalogue and further presents the label as having the ability to pick out the very best newcomers slowly making their way to the genre’s forefront.

‘No Data’ begins the EP, creating a dancefloor twist amongst its flipping samples and stepped up sonics. The track begins as it means to go on, with an urgency which ramps up and creates an appeal which translates directly into the clubs. ‘Pale Mist’ comes next and this record takes a mystic standard to a much soft level, as when the bass drops it snares you and pulls you down deep into its grasps. The layers of percussion which introduce the record don’t allude to how low you’re about to go as soon as the bassline dives to a subterranean depth, as the track’s skeleton rattles with its pure power. ‘Reversed Reserve’ is more minimal in its approach, although as it breaks down the sense of urgency can’t be masked. Each bass stab and instrumental bleat builds on the next, before you’re once again taken in by Kutlo’s uncompromising production standard.

‘Bad Moon’ brings ‘No Data EP’ to a close, offering up a slightly heavy tune, with masters NC-17 and Des McMahon, of the style which Kutlo has showcased on the subsequent three records.

Kutlo’s formulaic music writing takes no prisoners and this is clear to see from one track to the next... That’s why he makes such a pivotal signing for Delta9Recordings and their groundbreaking roster.

This March, Dutch drum and bass connoisseur Maztek returns to his very own label, 0101 Music, with the whopping 28-track compilation The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue.

Showcasing a mixture of releases from his formative years – dating all the way back to 2012 – and previously unheard VIPs, the new LP serves as a timely primer to the Haarlem DJ/producer’s extensive musical arsenal.

Included in the package are every single one of his past drops on revered label Renegade Hardware, including 2013’s M Theory EP, the critically acclaimed debut album Three Point Zero (2014) and a tag-team remix of “Limber” from late legend Optiv and Brazilian powerhouse BTK, all of which have proven to be fan favourites over the years. With some of these having previously been absent from streaming services and primarily available on vinyl, both die-hard followers and newcomers alike are in for a treat.

First landing exclusively via Maztek’s Bandcamp back in December, this essential collectors’ item has since been fortified with an additional three brand-new VIPs: a slinking reinterpretation of the choppy 2013 neurofunk triumph “iMaz”; a gritty, stuttering overhaul of the 2012 Subculture signing “Up & Down”; and a snarling spin on one of his best-known hits, “From the Shadows”, which features vocal contributions from local hip-hop heavyweights Dope D.O.D.

With Maztek known today not only as a musician but also as a label boss and preeminent purveyor of high-quality D&B, it’s a timely opportunity to reflect on his musical journey up to now. The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue LP lands 15th March via digital vendors and streaming services.
