welfare is a London five-piece consisting of Guy Jarman (guitar), Jamie Perlmutter (bass), Stephen Jones (guitar/vocal), Ray Hewitt (keys/percussion/other) and Nick Stapleton (drums).

Formed in 2011 and originally known as Bison, they share a collective love of punchy guitars and mucking about with pedals. For a few reference points think Sonic Youth, Wire, Radiohead and Built to Spill, with a little melodic nod to Morrissey and Elliott Smith.
