This song was recording a long time ago on a whim as a quiet rant while our first baby was sleeping. I don't ususally play electric guitar, (natalie) but it was a good way to play at night without being too loud. I just looped some guitar tracks and sang the song, then Brent worked on the rest.

This song is about multiple rejections.

1. One or two BOY RELATED rejections before I met Brent a long time ago, ( when the song was first written )

2. Then, Brent rejected this song when I recorded the first version of it ( then he liked it after I made a few changes. 

3. Then the third rejection…well, that happened the same week I was practicing harmonies for it, and helped me write the new part. 

I am learning more about being ok with the possibility of being rejected. I mean, it stings a little, ( or a lot) but then you can take what you want from it and keep on moving.

Firewall

This is a song that I wrote a long time ago named Skin. It is from a collection of songs called Fight for Light.

It is from a harder time in my life around the time I met Brent. When we started working together, ( a long time ago) I was writing very bitter songs, and on top of it, I was ashamed of my bitterness. I did not really want others to know I was feeling unhappy, and I was worried that I was polluting the “world around me” with my dark feeling songs. Brent was very supportive in that he convinced me that it is ok, and can be actually be valuable to share your sad/dark feelings through songs/art because it can help others feel less alone. I know it has helped me a lot.

PS - I am happy these days.


This is just a live version of the song and it not very produced. I guess this is more of a Saturday-morning-pms-heart-pour. We are working on lots of produced songs, but they take a while to get done :) Sometimes when I can, I try and record a live off the floor take.
