Over The Top [weave/unravel] live 11 02 2013

"weave/unravel" is a collaborative duo between hervé perez (saxophone) and constantin popp (live-sampling and processing).


the improvisations focus on extended techniques and the abstract peripheral sounds of the saxophone.
these sounds are then magnified and exploded through a delicate mixture of close-miking, amplification and diffusion. the saxophone becomes disembodied in favour of projecting it's inner space to the public space of the concert hall.

the process of sampling and spatialisation merges the performers' identities and places the listener inside the hyper-instrument.

Hervé Perez sound artist/composer from France, based in Sheffield (UK). His work fuses experimental electroacoustic music with free improvisation and immersive sound art. His research approaches sound as vibration in relation to space and the body.

Constantin Popp, born in Berlin, focuses on composition and interactive performance of acousmatic music. He transforms specific features of instruments and spaces into magnified enveloping soundworlds. He loves intimate and quiet sounds, drones and distortion. He studied electroacoustic composition at the HfM Weimar, DE, with Robin Minard and at the University of Manchester, UK, with David Berezan. Constantin's research at the University of Manchester is funded by the DAAD, Victor Sayer and the AHRC. He collaborated with musicians, dancers and film artists, such as laborgras, Markus Wintersberger and Zbigniew Karkowski.
