A great song depicting the age of the coal mines. As the father sends his son to the mines and the eventual closing of the mines. Reminds me of my late Grandad Thomas Watson a miner for most of his working days. Love the song, i sing it and think of him. A very popular song in the North East of England. This is a song that has took me a long time to re record. A very personal song to myself and my family. I originally recorded this song which was played at my younger brothers funeral (Sean James 1979-2010). I then sang the song again at his memorial night which we held last year. This will be the last time I will ever sing this song as it is a song with to much emotion and to many sad memory's. I hope you can enjoy my version of this great song from the War of the Worlds.
