Dynamic, diverse and wholesome Black Sails album is a 40-minute trip that consists of 9 tracks and is full of heavy riffing, melodic ballads, anger, pain and hope. The album sounds much heavier in both music and lyrical sense but at the same time, it preserves the same bright emotional message that’s typical for Weesp.
 
“Who We Are” track opens the album with a bit of reflective mood but explodes with heavy and recognizable riffing tight away and the album keeps pounding with furious “Red Neon Glow” and high-voltage “Not Over” that combine overloaded guitars with groovy drumming beats. Lyrical but still powerful “Roads, Hotels” and “After Us” are full of melancholy that hides strength and are full of dreaminess that leads to actions.
 
Even though the album lyrics is not in the form of a story but rather reflects emotions and visions, it still has clear and concise meaning that pierces through whole Black Sails album. The theme of complicated choice and thorny path of a person that does not fit in “normal” world and for whom “normal” society values are not enough can be heard clearly in anxious “Monsters”, sincere “Illumination” and epic “Who We Are”. Social problems, while not being in the center of the lyrics, can still be recognized in the background in each track from the album. What’s interesting is the fact that Weesp does not blame society for one’s fate and mental state but on the opposite, the band encourages its listeners to act, believe, struggle and find own way. Black Sails is an album about staying true despite anything.
 
Closer to the end of the album, the main track “Black Sails” is swinging on the waves of dramatic accords that steadily transform into the storm of the whole human life. In this song Weesp sums up with the line: “Don’t let the world break you, and you will change it one day” – which, despite the whole dramatic sounds, makes the album surprisingly motivational and reassuring.
 
Guys from Weesp say that Black Sails embodies all their listeners, like-minded people and all those who stand out, dream, love and believe.

A brilliant set of expressive acoustic ballads by metal rock band Weesp. The album features 7 acoustic tracks and 2 lives, recorded during the presentation of Black Sails album. A definite must-listen for anyone who has a thing for great vocals, bold riffs, and well-crafted synth sound. 

The album features 7 acoustic tracks from the albums The Void and Black Sails and two live tracks from the last album. 

It’s interesting how naturally the sound of the synth blended into the acoustic sound of the album, which makes the songs expressive and bold yet recognizable and retained in a signature Weesp style. 

By the way, the band filmed videos for acoustic versions of illumination, Red Neon Glow and Monsters tracks and the videos are already available on YouTube. 

As Weesp guys say, they had a great time recording acoustic songs but they never stopped working on the next album too. As well, they say they are preparing “something special” for release in the nearest future. 

But for now, you can enjoy Crystal Clean Waters - the album turned out to be definitely worth your attention.

«Железный край» — сингл alternative post-metal группы Weesp, выпущенный в поддержку будущего альбома «Боль». Это первая песня на русском языке за всю историю существования Weesp. 
«Железный край» —  это история о cложном возвращении домой. Возвращении в дом, в котором одновременно чувствуешь себя и родным, и изгнанником. Откуда ты отправился в большое приключение, чтобы найти новые земли, изведать глубины чувств и обрести новые смыслы. Но путешествие имеет смысл только тогда, когда есть, куда вернуться. Иначе человек обречен на бесцельное скитание. Мы хотим уезжать и возвращаться. Получать удовольствие от путешествий, поисков — и возвращаться домой. В место, где в душе спокойно, где мы не опасаемся быть изгнанными по принципу убеждений. Потому что это наш дом, какой бы этот дом ни был.

«Выстрел в небо» — это песня о проживании боли, которую порождают наши мечты. Они ведут нас, вдохновляют, но и они же вынуждают бросать вызов системе и заставляют чувствовать себя отвергнутыми, непонятыми, ненужными. Большие амбиции и великие цели тем более связаны с постоянным риском, сомнениями, страхами, и могут обернуться как победой, так и трагедией.

Текст сингла наполнен противоречивыми смыслами и поиском ответов. Это история с открытой концовкой: слушателю предоставляется возможность самому определить — и судьбу героя, и отношение к собственным мечтам. По задумке группы, у «Выстрела в небо» нет однозначной трактовки, сингл откроется каждому по-разному.

«Я считаю, что музыка должна, в первую очередь, вызывать ощущения, создавать настроение, и только во вторую — транслировать идеи и взгляды автора», — так описывает «Выстрел в небо» Алексей «Лекс» Фалько, автор текста и солист группы.

Ранее Weesp выпустили первый сингл «Железный край», заявив тем самым о новом этапе творчества и будущем русскоязычном альбоме «Боль».

В составе Weesp пять участников: Алексей «Лекс» Фалько (вокал, клавиши), Михаил «Майк» Залуцкий (гитара), Дмитрий «Ми» Будько (бас-гитара), Станислав «Стак» Будько (электроника) и Алексей «Гал» Галесник (ударные).
