“I first encountered Toru upon exiting a Tokyo DJ
booth one evening. He was waiting patiently to pass
me a CD of his work along with a polite, handwritten
note. The tracks had a uniqueness and an appealing
futuristic feel, and thus a few of them became
regular fixtures in my DJ sets” – Ø [Phase]
Not unlike Ø [Phase]’s own beginnings, and following
in the footsteps of the great artists before him,
Katsuta’s humble approach caught the attention of
mainstay techno fixtures. In 2021, he released a
remix on Matrixxman’s The Grid label for fellow upand-
coming artist Alarico. Despite being his first
featured release, Katsuta’s music has already been
circulating clubs and broadcasts around the globe.
Four dance floor cuts bookended by two sci-fi
excursions, “Phenomena” EP represents a long overdue
showcase of Katsuta's futuristic sound.

Prepare to embark on a journey through intense, brilliant, and meticulously crafted hypnotic tracks. Relentless power of vanguard synthesizers blending with raspy and punchy drums that figure unstoppable sonic tracks from well known artists like Orbe, Linear System, Nicolas Vec, and some of the newest talents like Tremor, Neen, Elias Garcia, and Nonsensical closing this compilation with a track from Kichi Kazuko that finish this release with a radiate and vibrant energy.

For our 40th release we are very happy to present our next 12", featuring staple Midwest artist, Jason Patrick. Jason originally hails from Detroit but has called Chicago home for many years. His 'Back Channel Communications' EP exemplifies his highly refined production technique developed from years of experience as a DJ, producer, and label owner. Amalgamation opens the record heavy, brooding, and sinister; continuing with Conspire, an rhythmic exercise in drive punctuated by sparse syncopated claps. Flip the record, JX-216 delivers hefty angular grit in his remix; and closing out the EP, Jason takes us into space with Enveloped, featuring expansive atmospheric themes.

PREMIERE: Jancen - Frostbite [Figure X45]

Unissued Series Part 3 consists of 4 tracks with a focus on atmospheric/ spacial elements, and developing synth work, giving each track its own unique characteristics.

Starting out with a more experimental ambient piece I made a while ago, I try to lead the listener into more depth of my sound design process. A repeating sub melody is playing as I play around with various parameters allowing for it to evolve and change in character over time. The following 2 tracks take a similar approach in the development of the atmospheres and synth sounds, supported by simple but solid drums. Rounding off the release is a track focused on delivering driving yet moving drums, supported by dubby chords, and a repetitive but evolving sequence in the low mids.
