My attempt @ a mash-up of classical sounds, surf guitars, old school synth leads and some horns - all wrapped up with an eastern melody.

I sat down to work on some of the tracks I should be working on and this is what happened. I don't do too many covers and this must be the shortest track I've ever recorded.

I allowed myself to change the title. Indeed, I narrate a text by Jacques Prévert (1900-1977) "En été comme en hiver" WICH YOU WILL FIND THE TRANSLATION BELOW. I tried to find out more about this wonderful poetry that was written by the poet for a show, but it seems hard to know more. I'm not sure that the tone on which i narrate is the right one, but that's what inspired me. A mixture of dramatic and ironic.
I remixed a little and I added some sounds to give a little more realism. I hope you enjoy my version.

Je me suis permis de changer le titre. En effet, je narre un texte de Jacques Prévert (1900-1977) "En été comme en hiver" . J'ai tenté d'en savoir plus sur cette magnifique poésie qui a été écrite par le poète pour un spectacle, mais il semble difficile d'en savoir plus. Je ne suis pas certain que le ton sur lequel je le dis soit le bon, mais c'est ce qu'il m'a inspiré. Un mélange dramatique et ironique.
J'ai remixé un peu et j'ai ajouté quelques sons pour donner un peu plus de réalisme. J'espère que vous apprécierez cette version.

EN ETE COMME EN HIVER

In summer as in winter
in the mud in the dust
lying on old newspapers
the man whose shoes take the water
look out at the boats.

Near him a fool
a gentleman who has what
sadly angling

he sees a barge passing

The brave angler

He knows that barges
are big floating slums
and that lower wages
does that the beautiful marinières
and their poor mariners

All right , I'm going to play a classic symphony I don't really like next week...a little song came out about some classic musicians being sometimes a little bit exclusive and narrow minded about music, thinking all the good music lies in the old classic world ...This is just a little song about being  open minded  to other styles  ....and being open to different music streams and mixes of  influences ... well that' just the way I feel :)

This one. So, in a month+ long binge through Youtube looking for outlier surf bands, I fell on Takeshi Terauchi and two of his bands - the Blue Jeans, and the Bunnies. Highly recommend checking them out. I actually can't recommend it enough. He does some amazing surf music, and then there's some Japanese traditional music that's redone in surf style, and then there's surf music that uses electrified trad-Japanese instruments. It's pretty mind-blowing. His Dark Eyes is about my favorite (even beating Chet, slightly!) But he does this thing, where, it sounds like he's holding on to the arm of the vibrato while picking individual notes, so they're all wobbling up and down slightly while he's playing. I took that, and used it on this song. Relatedly, I think it would be magical to have a mega-list of every surf band that ever recorded a version of Dark Eyes. Ok! Also check out Spot-Nicks (Swedish surf and sometimes space-barbershop!!!) and the Jokers.
