SPOOKI SEASON 2022

As soon as I saw the title and heard the lyrics of this track, I realized it was a no-brainer for me to add it to my sets. It just works too well ;)
Like I described for the 'Rhiannon' edit, i'm a huge fan of oldschool tunes that were rolling out of the 70's. I had heard the original by Dusty Springfield many times, but only recently discovered Quinten 909's remix and loved hearing it in the form of House. It's was a must-have for my "Spooki" collection.

What's different about the edit?
As with the other edits i put out this year, most of the changes are simply to get the song more "club friendly", especially in the percussion. While this gem was never meant to be a club-banger, I did think it could be a tiny bit more dancy, and so I started by quantizing all the kicks, and adding a few small percussion layers (like claps and hats) to make it a little more housy. 
I also wanted to make the composition of the track more 'DJ Friendly', as there were some sections that had extra 8 bars that didn't really fit with the flow of the track and the vocal sample used. I moved these sections around to give the track what I believe is a better flow. I also removed the repeating "vocal buildup" sections, as I thought they were kind of rough and abrupt for a smooth groovy song like this. Speaking of smooth groovyness, I added some additional horn samples, and recorded a few riffs on my keyboard just to add a little funk here and there.
