In the online battle to impede ISIS on Twitter, the Hunters keep a database of tens of thousands of ISIS Twitter accounts and work 24/7 to get them shut down. ISIS has countered with a system of their own called a "Baqiyah" network, whereby accounts are created and maintained for the sole purpose of broadcasting, or "shouting out", newly created accounts that were previously suspended.

When an account is shut down by the Hunters, the user has to create a new account from scratch, rebuilding their list of friends and followers. To speed up the process, they tweet to their "Baqiyah Fam" (family) and then all followers of the main Baqiya account will then retweet the new account to everyone, who will follow it and spread it. 

The Hunters have become so efficient at closing down main ISIS Twitter accounts that we are now seeing the frustration in the ISIS tweets. "They shut me down 4 times today..." "Please support my 23rd account...". They are spending so much time creating new accounts that they don't have time to rebuild their lists of contacts, thus limiting their ability to share ISIS information, news and  violent propaganda.

Hungry Like The Wolf - An Ode to the ISIS Hunters

Weird Abu is a parody / satire songwriter working with a group of ISIS Hunters online who seek to minimize ISIS' impact on social media. The purpose of these songs is to a) demoralize ISIS as they work through social media and b) to boost morale of the Hunters who sift through thousands of violent and graphic images and videos 24 hours a day across the world. Anything to lighten the mood and break up the intensity of the Hunt.
