Are there times when you have no idea what to pray for or pray about? Are there times when all you can do is just stare into space and wonder about situations or happenings around you? The Word of God encourages us in Ephesians 6:18 to pray in the Spirit at all times, this is because most times we do not know what to say but the Spirit intercedes for us through wordless groanings.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the Holy Spirit who is interceding on my behalf. Thank you for making me pray aright through the Holy Spirit. I give you all the praise.

Late in the Midnight Hour

Along about midnight, Paul and Silas were at prayer and singing a robust hymn to God. The other prisoners couldn’t believe their ears. Then, without warning, a huge earthquake! The jailhouse tottered, every door flew open, all the prisoners were loose (NKJV)

However, let’s take a second look at this situation, this miracle happened at midnight. They had been in jail, badly beaten and under guard- Do you reckon they just started praying at midnight or way before then?  I strongly believe they started praying and singing way before Midnight-to encourage each other. As they gathered strength from weak bodies and soared in the Spirit, rendering praises to God, a miracle happened at MIDNIGHT!

God commands in everything to give thanks. He does this because he understands that “a cheerful disposition is good for my health” (Pro 17:22). God knows worrying about circumstances or things would only create unpleasant health issues or concerns. He expects us to trust in Him and not waver in our belief that He is God over everything.

Keep Moving Forward

“Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments” (NKJV)

Life happens! You must understand that as believers we do not get an automatic insulation against life oddities, rather being a believer equips you to press forward despite tough circumstances. The Holy Spirit who has been given to us as a Helper, initiates the forward movement by His Power which picks you up and sets you on your way.

What is key is that you allow the Holy Spirit to do this work. The Word of God reminds us that God is able to do exceeding abundantly, more that we can imagine or ask, however, according to the power at work in us (paraphrased). This Power in you is just how much you allow the Holy Spirit have His way in your life, just how much you are submitted to Him.

To worship Him
Our text is taken is from Romans 12:1
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship”

Worship is about reverence and adoration of Our Father.  To revere God is to have deep respect for or admire Him as your heavenly Father.  To adore God is to love, cherish and appreciate him. The text above refers to a reverence of Him in our bodies which are His temple. When we adore God through praises and worship, He dwells within us in our Spirits nurturing and grooming us to be more like Him.  God cannot share His space with another, He is a jealous God and desires that your affections are for Him and Him alone.

God’s Love Gift

Our text is taken from John 3:16

“For this is how much God loved the world-he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift, so now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life” (The Passion Translation)

God gave us His best, His all, even when we were not aware of this gift take less of accepting of it. All God asked for was a reconciliation with us, so we get to spend eternity with Him, just the way he had it planned from the foundations of the Earth.  Once we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we take up the job of reconciling the world to the Father through His son Jesus.

As you grow older, your eyes are more open to the realities of life, society, the vulnerable, the poor, the sick, the hurting, the angry, and the weak… etc the list is endless.  As children of God, we are expected to show this love to a hurting world, to give of your best to reconcile these ones to the Father.

Love drives your giving; a kind word, a smile, time to listen, a helping hand to the elderly and the weak, a meal, money, clothing, housing etc. If you truly are a child of God, you should never turn a blind eye to the needs of society around you. Jesus went about doing good as He preached the gospel, we can’t be asking people to come to Christ and leave them hungry? We can’t be preaching the good news to neighbors when we can’t even help with carrying their groceries or taking a meal over once in a while? How do we show the Father’s love to a depraved world? By giving of our best. Remember God is your reward and not the accolades of men.

Today, make a choice to show the Father’s love by giving of your best. Make it your act of worship to Him. Bring healing and succor to the world around you by displaying the action of love- giving.

Prayer: I pray Father for a heart like yours, to see through your eyes and the grace to do the good works you have created me to do.  In Jesus Mighty Name Amen

Joy In The Morning

Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Psalm 30:5b

The scripture above tells us God has given timelines to everything. What separates the night from the morning is the sun rising! “For the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing on His wings.” The intervention of Jesus in the night brings joy in the morning. His presence soothes and repairs the broken. His power sets the captives free. His touch makes the sick well. Jesus Christ is the Bright Morning Star. His light chases away the darkness and brings joy.

The morning is revealed by the light of the sun as its rays gently kiss the skies and gradually reveal the beauty of the earth. This symbolizes how Christ (the Sun of Righteousness) intervenes in our dark seasons and brings joy in the morning to the believer.
