Dogstarr & Craig Massiv - Decomposing Beethoven

This one started as a jam with a very static groove to begin with, Kick + Pulse Snare, and then the bass stabs to match. I had been spending my sort of newly isolated days new to Berlin, not knowing that many people just yet, and locking myself away in the studio. Watching plenty of John Carpenter movies (my favorite film maker) and digesting a whole load of 70's progressive rock & 80's film score soundtracks.
The whole thing came together pretty quickly, the arpeggio played out that way because I had been practising that scale and was finally able to make the run. 
I can't go into too much detail here without writing an essay in the universal powers but at some point and the same if for all of us who create in whatever ways we do, the artist becomes the instrument and at that perfect moment the universe and the artist are one.
This was the final production to leave the studio in 2012. Just before i turned off the computer for the last time and headed back to London from Berlin to meet my sister for Christmas on the 23rd of December. 
7 days later Jonny White Calls me on my birthday and asks to sign it to No.19.

Eric Volta - Love Your Illusion

This one started of as a jam session from a friend, but quickly all the parts has escalated and grew into it's own. It was yet another magic weekend in the studio as friend & music collaborator Gaika drops in with a few of his dutch friends. Chamireaux barely has the time to get acquainted and runs in & out of the studio after 10 minutes leaving this wonderful ad lib'd performance. Gretz then steps into the vocal booth and in just the same way leaves a great ad lib'd shortly after and makes a swift departure.
Gretz and I would meet again in the following weeks and work on more music together.

Placid. Adjective. Meaning: “calm and peaceful.” While this may describe Craig Placid’s demeanor, his musical style is anything but serene. As a DJ and producer, Craig has carved out a reputation for delivering deeply complex techno, driven by hypnotic rhythms and multi-dimensional beats. His sound reflects a lifetime of rhythmic exploration, beginning at age 13 when he taught himself to play the drums. This early foundation is evident in his masterful ability to weave intricate beats and layers, creating a rich sonic tapestry that captivates listeners.
When Craig steps behind the decks, his mission is simple yet profound: to take the
crowd on a transformative journey. "The best part of DJing is creating the soundtrack to someone’s night—offering them a selection that could redefine how they hear and experience dance music," he says. It’s an ambitious goal, but one that Craig consistently achieves with his dynamic sets.
As one half of Sound Sensible alongside his brother Grant VR, Craig is a stalwart of the South African techno scene. Together, they were foundational to the success of the legendary TOYTOY nights in Johannesburg, holding a decade-long

events.

the platform to experiment and introduce Johannesburg’s discerning music lovers to a broader spectrum of innovative underground techno and house sounds. Friday the 13th of June 2025 I opened the night at TOYTOY — a space that continues to push and inspire my musical direction.  I approached the set with a clear focus: to step back and reconnect with the core of what I love — storytelling through music.

The idea was to trace a path from the sounds that shaped me years ago to the textures that move me now. I let things build slowly, giving the room space to settle, setting a meditative, groove-driven tone for the night.

It was a real pleasure and I’m glad to have played a role in setting the stage for what followed.

The set was recorded live at AND Club Johannesburg  —  21:00 - 23:00 

Much respect to the TOYTOY crew for the platform, and to everyone who arrived early and locked in.

MKO is a key figure in the Polish techno scene, with more than a decade of experience shaping Warsaw’s electronic music landscape. As a resident of Jasna1 and a member of the Slapsuper crew, he has been an essential presence behind the decks and in the community. Previously, he was responsible for the dype collective and a series of influential events, and today his full energy is dedicated to his own club night, Shadows, a project that continues to push forward the city’s underground culture.

Musically, MKO’s vision flows effortlessly between different shades of techno, weaving together deep, dubby textures, hypnotic and trippy atmospheres, and the timeless groove of Detroit. His sets are characterized by subtle shifts and an immersive sense of progression, designed to keep dance floors moving while opening space for introspection. With his distinctive style, MKO has become known for creating journeys that reflect both his roots and his forward-looking approach to sound.

"The Absurdity That Lies Beyond The Wall" is a collection of some of the strangest tracks that I like to play out in sets. 
It’s actually hard for me to put a mix together and keep them rare, doing maybe 2 sometimes 3 a year. I like to try and build a narrative with music and am often sampling excerpts from talks , interviews and otherwise to help in achieving this. I went through a few versions of this mix before arriving here. It’s not really cool in my books to try and recreate what happens in clubs with recorded mixes intended for listening purposes. The experience in a club is something that should be reserved for that environment. Which means it becomes something I pour (often too much) thought into as repeated playback is kind of the intention. Putting a mix together for TOYTOY which is one of my favourite places in the world to play, helped to add some extra pressure. But worth it!" ❤️@ericvolta
