Fresh off the back of their very well received debut album, the Munich-based duo is back on Permanent Vacation to kick off 2023 with their „Eleganza“ EP. Once again, the guys do what they do best: timeless house music in distinctive Rhode & Brown style.  In the past ten years Rhode & Brown established themselves as one of the most reliable house producers around with rock solid releases on Permanent Vacation, Shall Not Fade, Toy Tonics, Public Possession or their own Slam City Jams imprint. As well as becoming a household name in the DJ world, sharing the booth with the likes of Palms Trax, Dam Swindle, Jamie Tiller or Octo Octa - spreading their infectious "Dancing Deejays" vibes around the globe. Rhode & Brown’s productions and DJ sets showcase their open minded approach to music and a passion for the nuances between genres - „We find inspiration in all corners of our record collection. That means we are as much influenced by disco or 80s synth-pop as by house and techno of the last decades or the latest viral trap hit on Spotify“, the guys say. Expect to hear full on house bangers next to disco, obscure new wave, street soul or ambient - the latter two most likely in their monthly Slam City FM show on Munich based community radio “Radio 80000”.

Underground System returns to Razor-N-Tape with the ‘Looking In EP’ - a 5-track offering of fresh originals and remixes. Ranging from low-slung Balearic grooves, to driving left-field funk and urgent up-tempo backbeats, the record is a fine-tuning of the US sound, complete with their signature flute and synth soundscapes, driving percussion, and catchy offbeat vocal hooks. On the B-side, RNT mainstays Nenor and Clive From Accounts take two of the tunes into clubbier territory, with a pair of remixes that are primed for the dance floor.

Copenhagen talent Ghosten (formerly Paxton Fettel / aka Ground Plane Aerial) comes correct on his latest belter, showing off his incredible bass and piano skills on a joyous, melancholic, fast-paced disco romp that's ripe for the summer season. Monologues boss Ben Gomori fuses Balearic house, acidic squelch and '80s vocal chops on his chunky remix that slows the pace and ups the drama.

Following a couple of low-key EPs, Green Sequence lands on DOBRO with a surprisingly impressive debut album. The Macedonian producer clearly has talent, with his dusty blends of jazz instrumentation, warming grooves and choice samples more often than not hitting the spot. He begins with a dash of slow-motion, head-nodding headiness, before serving up nine floor-friendly workouts that explore the woozier and sunnier side of MPC-driven deep house loveliness. Our picks of a very strong bunch include the twinkling, Rhodes-laden brilliance of 'Leavin', the disco-sampling, bass guitar-propelled deep dive of 'Messin' The Harp', the rubbery excellence of 'Voovojgrad' (which makes great use of chunks of an obscure, horn-heavy Eastern European big band soul jam from the 1960s) and the deliciously dubby, breakbeat-driven deep house shuffle of 'Moonlanding'

Born and raised in New Jersey, Ardio Zemog delivers the goods for the next Obia Records release. Soulful harmonic percussion filled tracks with a whiff of Latin. Passed on from generation to generation people inherit their ancestral spirits and devotional practices to create vibrations that lift our souls. Ardio Zemog takes on the skin of Obiaman for a sonic trip through connected spirits both young and old. The main cut “Generations” takes the dancer and listener on a wholesome state of well-being. Soothing percussion rhythms with a solid signature bassline drives the listener into a never ending feeling of bliss, the youngest generation has spoken.

Followed by “Yeochu” a deeper more mature arrangement of drums characterizes the unseen spirit from the father figure. A message of analogue synth stabs and pads deliver a blessing followed by hypnotic piano riffs. Instructions and spiritual advice are given for those who are able to open up.

“Nights in Leblon” behold the oldest wisest spirit of them all. A breathtaking deep harmonic pad layered by countless drum percussion. The presence of ever evolving synth stabs and piano chords define the tracks rhythm and timbre.
To finish the EP Wendel Sield takes us on a completely different ancestral path. Flipping the script on “Nights in Leblon Acidic Rework” with a solid tb-303 acid line layered with tr-505 drums. The rework focuses on playful rhythm and minimal usage of elements. Surprisingly the record takes on a different harmony mid tune what makes the track ideal for DJs who like to switch it up during their sets.
