Wendy Horton, MBA, PharmD, FACHE, is the Senior Vice President and President of Adult Services at UCSF Health, one of the nation’s top 10 hospitals. A nationally recognized healthcare leader, she has dedicated her career to advancing operational excellence, driving strategic growth, and delivering patient-centered care, all while maintaining a strong commitment to the communities she serves.

She is dedicated to improving healthcare quality and innovation by optimizing care delivery and leveraging new technologies that support both patients and care teams. With a distinctive combination of clinical pharmacy expertise and executive leadership across top academic medical centers, she has consistently led organizations toward greater efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Before joining UCSF Health, she served as CEO of UVA Health University Medical Center and System COO of UVA Health, a $4.5 billion health system with more than 17,000 employees and 1,200 faculty members in Charlottesville, Virginia. Over the course of five years, she guided significant statewide expansion efforts through partnerships and acquisitions that strengthened care delivery and integration. Under her leadership, the system doubled in size, expanded access to care, and launched initiatives such as the earn-while-you-learn workforce program. She also advanced community health coordination, promoted workplace safety, and fostered open communication through town halls, listening sessions, and clinical rounds. Her focus on efficiency and engagement reduced reliance on travel nurses by over 75% and improved organizational performance across all levels.

Previously, she served as Chief Administrative Officer at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, part of a $4 billion academic health system. She improved faculty and student diversity, shortened physician recruitment time by 81%, implemented a $340 million physician compensation plan, and increased research funding by 28.4% to $269.4 million. Earlier in her career, she spent 12 years at the University of Wisconsin, where she served as Vice President of Operations, overseeing the completion and commissioning of a new hospital.
