SHIX is the new demon off the block ready to raid your sound system. She's the brainchild of Skylar Sinclair, an Atlanta native steeped in drum and bass from her formative years. She's circled the Southeast US bass underground for the past three years, sharing lineups with heavy-hitters like Logam (of Legion & Logam), Transforma, Ahee and KJ Sawka, bringing her signature flair and party vibes to the underground bass scene. Her roots run deep, with tracks ranging from funk-sampled rollers to adrenaline pumping breaks and electro house, with a healthy dose of hybrid trap madness to round off her sound. She currently has releases on Funky Panda and Wolf Beats, with an upcoming release on Eazy's label Walking Dead Records in the UK, bridging the gap between the US and UK DnB circles, with an upcoming debut EP in the works.

Walking Dead Recordings is another of those very consistent and prolific jump-up labels that just generally tends to release some of the naughtiest cuts from that side of the scene around. Premium is on the imprint this time and Take Care features murky tones on both cuts, each of them dripping with the type of energy that's made jump-up so popular at the moment. Our favourite is probably 'Take Care', a gargling tune that squelches its way around the range, undercut by a skippy but forceful percussive line. The flip is also a highlight, a forceful but creative drum section underpinning a wavey amalgamation of bass force. More good work from these guys.
