Bside Incoming: Levi Love Disco

This week we continue our international quest, this time venturing through the Black Sea to the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Here we find Levi Berishvili, better known as Levi Love Disco - a young emerging selector from the the Mountain region of Racha, paving his way into the ever exciting Georgian music scene.

At the age of 21 he has had an impressive run with his DJing, spinning his records in clubs and festivals of high caliber; Club Der Visionare , Khidi , Mountain festival , and his 3 year long residency in 2018 with Ezo festival.

As his name suggests, his true passion is collecting and sharing disco records from all time periods. However like most of us, he enjoys playing a wide range of music. When playing in clubs and festivals he speaks of taking influence from house DJs such as Ron hardy and Jeremy Underground, fusing disco and house sounds to create the energy and excitement his sets deliver.  For his Bside podcast however he starts by taking us on a tour of his favorite jazz records, spanning from calming clarinets and vocals, to eerie trumpets and snares. The second half progresses into positive upbeat disco and soulful sounds.

He is one to keep an eye on for sure... Enjoy!

In the final curation of 2020 we raise a glass to Takis Shelter with a diverse collection of jams showcasing everything from blissed out jazz, funked up house, rich balearic trips and a little sprinkle of joy inducing disco. These come from a selection of our good friends across the planet who have kindly contributed their tracks to make this release happen, a big thanks to the time and effort that everybody has put into this.

100% of the proceeds from this compilation will go directly to Takis Shelter. As someone who has his roots in the music scene, Takis turned his attention from partying all night whilst running his own nightclub, to well, partying all night with more than 450 of dogs and cats that he saved from landfills and rubbish dumps in Crete. After giving up everything he owned to open his shelter, he nearly had to give up the refuge but donations made it possible for him to go on.

This compilation is a nod to all the incredible, selfless work that Takis has put into caring for these animals and will go towards ensuring they are looked after, fed and can eventually find their way to a new loving home. To find out more and donate directly go to takisshelter.org/

During hard times, we tend to look back to the good old days. Over time, our memory of an event changes so that we are more likely to remember the positive aspects than the negative ones. Our brains don’t handle uncertainty well. We like to know how things are going to turn out. It’s partly why living through the current pandemic is so hard. No one can predict when it will end but when we remember the past, all that uncertainty is removed.

It’s hard to fully immerse ourselves in the here and now but we’re living the good old days right now. Remember what’s causing the past to seem better than today and use that knowledge to fully appreciate the present.

Therefore here’s a tape putting the good old days back 2 back with the presence and future creating the illusion of non-stop music and support to bridge the gap from the past to the future.
