To me, this song is about the impossibility of freedom. Whether its desire, religion, emotions, addiction, or just the human condition and the inevitability of death, we are subjected to natural states of psychological and physiological confinement and restriction. Certain instrumentation reflects a sort of desire to break free from constraints, but maybe it does in the end.. maybe it doesn't. I'm not really sure.
